I know! I get so mad about it as a breeder. Like when I go looking for more stock to add to my flocks I am always stumbling across 'trashy' prospects. Barred Rocks tend to have this issue around them alot.

Quality is everything in my opinion. If there is a standard to breed to then a breeder needs to breed to that standard. And bad traits should not be passed on.

Exactly! I am breeding, along with all my other breeds, Light Sussex and just ordered some pure English Champions as added breeding stock. I just couldn't find anything worth it around where I am.

I know what you mean there. I've ordered eggs from breeders all over the US to improve my birds. Not much for quality in my area, nothing better than what I have anyhow.

Yup, same here. I do no more local shopping for poultry. All imports or cross country shipping.
