I would do several huge water changes with good gravel vac'ing and then smaller changes while testing the water every day. I have had my own fish issues over the years. the power getting knocked out for 2 weeks at a time in the dead of winter kills tropical fish and having 106+ degree weather that drops into the 80s at night will kill fish off too.
