I'm using a white on white for some of my background fabric and also an off white with a design on it in a beige. They go well with the colors I'm using for the gekos. I bet black would really make those gekos pop.
I'm going to try one of these this week..... But I've never appliqued before....and I'm a little concerned about my cutting skills! I can do straight piecework any day of the week, but all of these swerves and curves scare me!
I'll let you know by Wednesday or so if I'm in or out!

Use shorter sharp sissors (sp). I have attempted this one and it was my first time appliquing also, the feet are a little testy, but doable w/ time, practice and shorter sissors.

Okay... visited Joann's and came home with a bag full of quarters. I tried to find neutral colors for the background but my hand may have slipped a few times and grabbed something else
Someone better speak up quick if I gotta change things up.
Speaking up, the background is to be light colored. Hang on to the others a we will have another swap when this one is over. Love your picks, especially that brown.
I didn't make it to Mary Jo's or Joann's. Ended up in SC picking up 13 Silver Sebrights for the non-chicken hubby who decided he wanted some of those "little spiderwebby chickens we had last year" and at Shoe Carnival. He hasn't bought any shoes but 2 pairs of steele toes since 2007! I bought him 2 shoes, 1 sport sandal and the same sandal for me! Now I can get rid of those blasted swim shoes. My swim shoes float. I could drown, sink to the bottom of the river and only my feet would still be above the surface! I like the sandals best. They have are a good pair of Teva's with more or less of a toe guard so I don't crack my toes on the rocks. Come on kayaking weather!!!!!
