waiting... 20 week old pullets... I'm getting anxious! UPDATE! AN EGG!

I got 4 comets. 2 RIR, 3 SS and a WR as chicks the same time in midApril. The Comets started laying last week and we're getting 3 eggs a day from them, one of the SS started on Saturday(I spotted her in the nest followed by an egg) and has laid 2 eggs total as of yesterday, the other 5 are still not laying. The point being they will all start when they're ready.

What woodmort said. We were waiting forever and one of my barred rocks started when she was 21 1/2 weeks. The other girls have just started to lay and they will be 24 weeks on wednesday. I understand how hard it is to wait for that first egg but as someone already stated--they will lay when they are ready. Better when they are ready than too soon as I have read that early laying can be problematic. Patience is a virtue, especially when it comes to chickens!!!

One of my girls finally came through for me today!!! I don't know which one, but it was either RSL (golden comet? I have 3) or my RIR.

They are 21 1/2 weeks

Look at the size of that egg!! My pullet eggs are TINY in comparison. See? It pays to be patient. Congratulations!
