Yes it is! If I had to pick a favorite breed of chickens, I would have to pick Wellies.

Thank you very much! She is not even my prettiest hen, but I just had to snap a picture of her staring at the Thing. It turned out so cute, I put it as my Avatar.

I have some Jersey Giants and Wheaten Marans due to hatch today and more on the 29th.

havent had the time to worry about that yet. hopefully soon. I got 4 little grandkids I am raising and its hard to get a moment to ur self around here.

Well, I'm trying to learn to upload pictures. Turns out its not great, but its a picture of a jumbo corturnix quail egg against a normal large store bought chicken egg.

I remember those beautiful little speckled quail eggs. They are so darn cute! And they have got to be the cutest little fuzzy chicks ever!
I hope you can post some pictures of them when they hatch too. Brings back some of my childhood memories.
Do you raise quail for meat, eggs, or some other reason?

I raise quail for all of the above! We use both whites and browns, one has dark, the other light meat, for eating and eggs. As it happens, we feed our dogs a natural food diet, which means meaty bones, whole fish, whole quail (as opposed to chicken backs), and a few other butcher parts, that basically make up whole animals. (sorry ugh, huh?) Good for them.

I sell whole quail and eggs from home to folks we know, but only enough to help pay for food. I actually like the quail, but they don't lend themselves overly toward being a pet, so its mostly a hands off policy here, to help keep them calmer.
