Waiting for the doctor to call! (UPDATE, pg. 2)

So sorry to hear they found something that will require all that followup, but glad it is not something worse. :aww

Keep us informed of the outcome!

So glad you called them. It can be an absolute eternity (and then some!) waiting for a docs office to get around to calling. Sounds like you're on your way to answers, and ones that are manageable, thankfully. Hopefully by next week you will have the info you need to get some good, sound rest and relaxation (and some hearty meals!).

Grit, my cousin has the poly cystic Kidney disease and having a good support system is worth a million bucks. Make sure your Nephrologist is up front, your pcp works together as members of a team. You have the right to know your results ASAP, and if you find that you are not happy with the way someone treats you, please please take my advice and fire that team.
This is a critical time in your life, not to scare you, but with her past doctor and Nephrologist, she was never told she was in renal failure. She finally changed doctors and is so wishing she had done this years ago.
She is in renal failure, but remember its not a death sentence anymore. I went through the dialysis and transplant appts with her and its scarey, but since she has been going through the dialysis, she feels the best she has in years.
I also have friends that have actually had kidney cancer and that can be won. Get to a top doctor, travel if you must, but these battles can be won and NEVER FORGET IT. NEVER NEVER FORGET IT.
I know you do not know me, do not mean to scare you or sound like I am trivializing your journey, but please if you need to talk or know more about my cousin or the friend that won cancer, please let me know. There is always hope and God does give miricles out. I know that through my loved ones journeys! God bless you and you are in my prayers also. ~ Kellie
ps- sit with a happy hen, that will always make the days a bit brighter.

Grit,

My sister had a tumor on her kidney and it was cancer. She had the kidney removed and didn't have to do chemo or anything. The reason they found hers was because she was having an ultrasound of her gallbladder and the tech scanned too low. She was having pain in her back.

It's been 3 years and she's fine. Her one kidney isn't functioning right but they are just watching it know.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Not a dumb question! If I didn't have a degree in a medical field, I wouldn't know either. During an angiogram they inject dye into a vein and take pics as it travels thru the blood vessels; in this case the blood vessels in the brain. They look for signs of ballooning or weakness.

Gritsar,
I am so sorry for all the pain you have had. I was an rn for 20 years. Being in the medical field does not always help us much. We feel just like everyone else. I hope they get this under control real soon.
Do you think having to deal with all this pain and stress may have something to do with the wt. loss. I loss everytime I have an infection. The nausea and pain just turns off my desire to eat. Although I have to eat. I am diabetic. God bless and keep you. Jean

Oh Jean (crazyhen) - I feel bad for you! Diabetes is right up there at the top of diseases I couldn't imagine living with. The shots wouldn't bother me as much as having to control my eating habits. I've always had the habit of eating what I want, when I want with total disregard to the clock.
Guess I'll just keep an eye on the weight loss - 35 lbs. since May 1st - for now. There's always Ensures

I had hyperemesis gravidum with my first child and Ensures became my best friend.

Kat/Grit, I'm with you on the diabetes thing! I really feel awful for folks with such dietary restrictions, knowing it would bum me out sooooooo much. Enjoy too much having what I want when I want, except for all the extra weight that comes with it! Do you think you were you eating less since May 1st or is this weight loss with normal eating?

Grit, Hang in there! Best of luck to you! Both my sister and I have PKD and have had pretty good fortune with it. They removed on of her kidneys almost twenty years ago now, She had two kids since then!

Mine has been fairly well handled and I haven't had any major surgeries yet. Its been fifteen years since my diagnosis and while it has had an impact, it hasn't caused renal failure or kidney loss. It is amazing what proactive care can do!

Hang in there we're all pulling for ya!
