Waiting list..

Ordering some Buff Africans from Johnson's today. I spoke with a lady on the phone and she seemed very polite and was very helpful. And did I mention how low their prices were!? Cheap charge on small orders and very reasonable shipping charges. They'll hatch in the next couple weeks she said!

Buff African geese are my favourite! Can't wait until you get them!

Do you raise them? If so, any useful information would be greatly appreciated. I'm so excited for my pair to arrive.
Yes i do raise them. I should have buff african goslings hatching in the incubator either tomorrow or Saturday along with brown african geese
;)
African geese are raised like any other breed but need protection from cold weather. They are either very smart or really stupid which makes me love them. They can be every tame. They are a very rare breed with the buff colour is very hard to find and buff african geese tend to be overpriced a lot of the time. here where i live we never see buff or white african geese and i was just lucky to find 5 of them for a reasonable price. People can cross buff african geese to cross with the brown african geese to produce different buff bloodlines.

Brown african gander with buff african goose = ALL Brown offspring

Brown ganders carry buff genetically [call this B/B1]

Brown geese DO NOT carry buff genetically speaking

Second mating
B/B1 gander X Buff African goose = 1/2 males AND 1/2 females Brown

and 1/2 males AND 1/2 females Buff

OR

B/B1 gander X pure Brown female = All males Brown

1/2 females Brown AND 1/2 females Buff

AND

Buff gander X pure Brown female = All ganders Brown [this is B/B1]

=All geese Buff

I'm currently doing this with my African geese.
It's just interesting to know i guess ;)

This is a buff female gosling who is currently hatching.
The mother is a Brown African and the father is a Buff African gander giving buff females and brown males ;)

aww, hope to see a pic when the little one emerges completely. Might have to look into adding a pair of buff next year for the hubbys birthday or late Christmas pressie or something. The Africans were his favourite after the exhibition style tolouse but I was worried about their legs.

Maybe I should check their site again. I was trying to get in on the April 4th ship date but didn't make it in time. I have no prior goose experience as well, and I wish you guys the best of luck.

EDIT: I just checked and they're apparently sold out through July.
Was just over checking out the Metzer web site. They are now showing Super Africans available out of their May 23rd hatch if you are still interested.
