I have come back a few times with beard, moustache, and eyebrows coated in ice, looking like an Arctic explorer. lol

I LOVE walking and hiking... but not so much running! I have never really enjoyed it. I started forcing myself to run a few times a week a couple year ago. While I definitely still dont look forward to it, I find myself getting extra stressed and antsy when I try to skip it. I found I sort of looking forward to it like you might look forward to pulling the super glue out of your arm hair... not pleasant, but so much better to have done! 🤣

I keep track of steps. Last year I averaged 9,693 steps per day. So far this year I am averaging 11,268 steps per day. I used to run and am thinking about starting to do so on a conservative basis this spring.
I tried doing that but havnt found a good/cheep step counter. All the phone apps I found are terrible, I would spend 30mins brisk walk, counting myself ang get over 2k, then look and it would have registered 300. 🥲

I put the special leash on for the speed walk but it ended up being a combo speed walk and sniffari cause he had to potty plus I was getting out of breath from no breaks anyway 🤣🙈 next time we will just stick to sniffaris and go further distances when we have time.
A nice way to transition to the longer times is to do it in chunks (works for running too) walk fast (or run) 3 mins then break for 1 and repeat. Then next week up it to 4 mins break 1. Then 5, then 8, then 10 ect. You want every time to be difficult, but not struggling to breath.
Also.. pay VERY close attention to the direction of your feet, keep them posted forward, the same direction as your toes. This is a common problem for people who are overweight. If this is incredibly difficult you may look into pronated ankles/flat feet and try adding some ankle PT. Even if you are one of the people who has a literal bone deformity so it will always be there (which is not usuallythe case, but is for me), doing the exercises can still improve it and help lessen the damage to your knees/hips/back.
