My 11 month old Frizzle, Phoebe, has been walking sideways and backwards intermittently over a period of about 10 days. She is in the midst of a horrific molt but other than that, she appears well, eating, drinking and laying eggs reliably.

When she walks that way her neck bows to one side or another. She looks like she stayed at the bar for a few too many beers. I have no idea what to make of this. Anyone have any similar experience or KNOW why this is happening?

These photos are a month old, she has a lot fewer feathers now:

I'm just guessing here, but I think it is called wry neck. Try giving her vitamins & electrolytes. Especially B and E.

Good luck

I agree, try the adding in extra vitamins first. I imagine she is expelling a lot of energy and nutrients trying to grow back those glorious feathers and not absorbing enough. Good luck! I've seen some crazy dramatic recovery stories from wry neck, I bet she'll be on the road to recovery in no time.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to start her on the vitamins today. Poor Phoebe.
