THAT AINT NO LIE!!!

I am still experimenting with the chukars for meat birds too. I hatched 47, july 2nd and still have all 47. They will be 8 weeks old this Saturday...

Should I get them thru the next 8 weeks, I'll be "reap'n the joy of the ultimate white meat", in half the time!!!

If it works out, The only Bobs I'll have, will be big Ol' pets. More for brag'n about and listen'n to than eat'n!!!

But we'll see how it works.

I'll be stayin' tuned to this one, Bill...... lamike says they're right up there in the Bob category as far as quality. If so, I just may go astray, ya know?

Well, I enjoy hear'n the bobs cut up to much not have any. But if I can raise 2 batches of chukars year for eat'n. I'll be try'n... BTW, They have several nice songs too. Throw in a few loads of coturnix and I need a new deep freeze!! Bill

Sorry man, no white meat on a coturnix... Not A&M's either... No coturnix have white meat... only white feathers....Bill

Unless you can pick up locally, I recommend buying hatching eggs and incubating and brooding them yourself. Quail chicks in general do not ship well. They do not have the yolk reserves, and are way more cold and heat sensitive compared to other poultry. If you are really serious about raising game birds of any kind, an incubator, and brooder setup will serve you well!

That way you don't have to depend on anyone else to have chicks ready when you are ready to grow out some meat birds.

Oh, and though I do recommend coturnix for both meat and egg production. No species of "Quail"is an inexpensive proposition to raise. Also, as others have said, A&M's are not white meat birds.
I recommend Jumbo white (Often called A&M) or any color (Jumbo) coturnix for meat production, and little browns (Often called wild, pharos, as well as other names and spelling of names) for egg only production.
