I want to get some peafowl eggs this year. I raise chickens, guineas, quail, pheasants and turkeys. After they hatch, are they like any of these birds as far as care goes? I always hatch guineas with my turkeys to teach them how to eat and drink. I feed all my gamebirds purina gamebird startena, 30% protein. I have 2 cabinet bators that run from March to August and a cabinet hatcher. I had also read that you can not put their eggs in a auto turner, is that true? If I plan to free range some, are they pretty good about sticking around if raised from hatch here?

Thanks and sorry for the peafowl newby questions.

I did this post late at night and I guess I should of said I want some peafowl. Thanks Choctaw, I have got the poults down pretty good. What about the incubating part, do you have to hand turn? My Dickey's and my Sportsman do tilt the eggs at a pretty good angle.

everyone that I know that lets them free range has never had any to leave. the farm next to mine has about 10 and the only time I see them is when I go to the house and see them hanging around the barn.

Start them under a chicken for a week! That would be suicide here in the back piny woods of chicken country East Texas!

There is a 6' chicken snake everywhere you look out here. Broody hens is not a good idea for us because the eggs allways get eaten before hatch. Except the turkeys and guineas in the field but i'm not taking that chance.
