My eggs are gonna on lockdown Wed am. I candled Sat am and had another clear one and one that was a definite quitter, so I'm down to 10 in the bator.

My oldest son had a melanoma removed from his leg a couple of weeks ago and we have to go to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston on Wed. We caught it very early and with lots of prayer, he's going to be fine. I am a little concerned about humidity on that 1st day. Our local forcast is calling for outside himidity to begin to rise tomorrow and it'll probably be high for a few days (as is the norm for SW Louisiana). I won't be home until sometime that evening so I won't be able to keep an eye on it. Any suggestions?

4 quail so far, and a peep on one of my blue eggs....these are all mine, not shipped. Not visable action yet from any shipped eggs...but it's early. The first set really wasn't due to hatch until tomorrow....these are just early birds (pardon the pun)

Lady, glad to hear your son is going to be okay. That must have been scary to go thru, how old is he? Prayers going up for a safe trip and speedy recovery.

Pam

Edit: Still just 4 quail, but have one chick out....a brown leghorn...several other of the eggs are pipping. Still just mine own eggs, no shipped eggs yet..

Edit: Still 4 quail, two chicks the brown leghorn and a Dark Cornish/Wyndotte cross and several pips!!!!! One of them is my shipped Welsummer, the darkest egg too!!! Yoohoo!!!! Got to make myself go to bed, hopefully will have more chicks in the morning!

Praise God for your son being ok.

Um--if you are worried about the humidity going too high in the incubator, I have a suggestion, but it is a little strange. Ok. Put a dry sanitary pad in there, or a depends sort of thing, doesn't matter. These have a gel insert and are made to absorb moisture, soooo, I am thinking, maybe that would help keep the humidity down.

Mind you, I don't know this would work. It was just a thought.

I can't wait!!!

My son is 21--way too young to be dealing with this! We'll know more tomorrow after seeing the Dr in Houston. They say more surgery so we're thinking that's to cut a larger area from his leg where the melanoma was. Please keep us in your prayers. God IS faithful.

I candled for the last time last night and had 3 more that look like quitters. I didn't take them out as they didn't stink. Maybe they'll be ok. All of those three were on the hotter side of the bator-temps wanted to stay at about 100.4 in a hovabater circulated air. I'll take them out of the turner and up the humidity around 6 am tomorrow. I'll be able to keep an eye on the bator until we leave about 10:30.
