Hi Everybody-
I'm hoping for some advice on how to find one young hen (or older pullet) to keep our hen, Peggy, company. She's about 3 years old now and the only survivor of a raccoon attack (Joan & Sally didn't make it).
Peggy is recovering, but she seems a little addled. We want to adopt (or buy) one egg-laying, or soon-to-be-laying pal for Peggy. Ideally, this pal would be not-too-aggressive, cold-hearty, & a pretty good layer. We think that a docile friend would help Peggy mentally & help keep her warm this winter. We will provide a good home & a newly reinforced coop to keep everyone safe at night!
We're hoping to find a local hen. We're in Columbus, Ohio, and are willing to drive an hour or so to fetch her.
My account is too "young" to post on the Buy/Sell/Trade forum -- though I assume that's the appropriate place for this question.
Does anyone have any ideas?
You can read more about Peggy's plight here: http://bexleychickens.blogspot.com/
Thanks for your thoughts!!
