Wanted- Silkie Spash rooster with lots of red leakage

I am in Florida. I am trying to do a calico project so I’m looking for leakage in spash silkies. I also need hens.

Curiosity has gotten the better of me. What are you actually aiming for, here? A calico Silkie sounds absolutely gorgeous!

There was someone who used to breed them as a project. I’m trying to recreate it but haven’t found any silkies like I’m looking for. She said she started with splash and red leakage and eventually got one like this.

OMG! That is SO COOL! I had no idea there had ever been a chicken with true calico plumage. Are they still around or are you reinventing the proverbial wheel, here?
I have a blue splash roo, but his red "leakage" is only in his comb and wattles, so I doubt he'd be of any help to you. Besides that, he's a true family pet and my daughter would disown me if I rehomed him!
If you don't mind my asking, how do you go about breeding for the calico?

I used splash with heavy red leakage, and bred it to splash. And used that offspring to continue it. Sometimes splash to buff can give interesting results to start out but not always.
All of mine were strictly splash based.” I’m still trying to find birds to start the project. If i do I also have to built another coop and run.

I am definitely intrigued! I don't have the room or time to do that sort of project, but I'll keep an eye out on our 4H circuit for you. You never know what'll come through ...

Interesting!!!! I just made a post asking about an interesting splash I ended up with.. Not sure if it's a roo or hen yet at just 16 weeks old, it's still growing out.. Where in florida are you? I'm in GA.. Might be interested in giving towards your project if I can get one of the offspring
