Wanted to share a special moment

To add a final note to this story, the trip to my mother's was a little hard on the little white chick. She must have gotten chilled or something, as by bedtime last night, she was no longer up running around, but instead was laying on her side in her brooder unable to stand. I was extremely sad, but I told myself it was okay. She had performed a great duty yesterday.

I placed her in another brooder with a crippled chick that I have to keep her from being trampled by all the healthy chicks. I gave her some sugar water and decided to just let her rest. This morning she is doing better, seems alert, and will stand when prompted to, but still appears weak. She seems content to be with "Thumper".. my crippled chick. She'll remain with Thumper for now. Who knows? Maybe she'll be good therapy for him too

Thank you!!!!! Having worked in a nursing home for many years, I have seen too many people get to that point and their family just gives up on them. Things like this are what keep them "here" and are so much more important than most people realize. You did great!!!!

You are part of a great family. How awesome everyone pitches in and helps, your mom looks like she loved having those chicks. See now you are going to hatch chicks everytime you go to do your weekend so your mom will have baby chicks to hold.

That is a wonderful sweet story! Not only the chicks helping your Mom, but also that she has wonderful devoted children who love her the way you do! It gave me chills to read your story and see your wonderful pictures! Give your Mom and Dad a BIG hug!! You and your siblings are truly inspiring.

we lost my grandmother a couple years ago in a similar way, the whole family helped out my aunt after "mom" moved in. With her it was babies, every time we thought it was the end someone got pregnant and she rallied. In some ways I think it a blessing you get time to prepare and say goodbye. Glad you found your chicks help her and bring her some joy.

This was so precious. The whole story and pictures were just so touching (and tear provoking
