I've only gotten 4 eggs from the two hens since I picked them up a week ago today. That is actually better than I was expecting. I think they just started laying. They are 7 months old.

After much exhaustive research, I am finally trying something very new and tricky. I am going to artificially inseminate a few Buff Orpington roosters to a few Cornish X hens, provided I can get the hens to live long enough. So that maybe I can hatch out some self sustaining faster growing meat birds that will naturally breed every year. The reason I am doing artificial insemination is because I can't take any chances of the roosters not being interested in the hens for the initial cross. Wish me luck! Happy Christmas Eve!
