Oh ok. I thought ferrets were a pet not a wild animal. Must be an excaped one. I have a feeling there may be a black footed one or something which Is supposedly native.
I think ferrets were originally polecats before they were demesticated.

In New Zealand, they'rean invasive species. In the us, they're pets apart from the black footed ferrets which are endangered here
