The duckling is a wood duck, not a mallard. Wood ducklings are extremely difficult and tricky to raise. My guess would be that it was a late hatcher and was left behind.

we’re going to get a flower tomorrow and bury the duckling, i’m going to bury her with the flower right beside my ducks coop. thank you guys for he support, i just wish i could’ve helped the little thing.![]()
I use a shovel or my post hole auger to dig a hole...Thats very nice of you. But you might want to read a article on here first about how to bury the ducking. I tried to look for one but could not find one. I'm sure somebody else can?
