Was a nail biter, but my order from Meyer arrived this afternoon

How hot is it over there? It got up to 115 degrees here (a while ago) and one of my brahmas died of heat stroke and stress but the other is still here and doing great! Both my Cochins and langshans (who were 1-2) weeks also made it through (along with the rest of my 90+ birds) and I haven’t had anymore problems. All the others seemed to adapt to the heat and as long as you have water and good ventilation most birds should be fine! Mine just kind of was focused on laying and sitting in the nest box and wouldn’t drink much or try to keep herself cool.🤷🏽‍♀️😕
I'm so sorry about your Brahma. I had actually wanted to buy a Buff Brahma from Meyer, but they were sold out. They're so beautiful.

We have a weather gauge in our backyard. Last week, it went up to 100, but the humidity is so high here (it was around 70%), that our "feels like" was 127.

Our coop is connected to a predator proof large run, so at night I leave the coop windows open (1/2" hardware cloth over them) as well as their door to the run, so they can roost in the run if they'd like. I let them out to free range at about 9am. They have tree cover and various raised platforms in their pasture that they can go under. Mainly they stick by the coop and only venture wider when a cloud passes giving them some additional shade. My EE's are the first to feel the heat. Yesterday, my California White had her wings outstretched. It's hot.

Your chicks are so adorable I want to SQUEEZE THEM. I have been designated the birth to 4 week brooder for our entire family since I love baby chicks so much. If brooding little chicks to pullet size was a full-time job I would work every day with no time off...I LOOVE the babies!
Yes! I just stand over the brooder watching them... They're little nuggets.

What's really nice is that with my last two batches from the re-seller I was getting them on the Sunday following their Monday hatch, so they were almost a week old and really didn't like being handled. I got these littles so young that they run up to my hands. Those few days make a huge difference.

Gorgeous!!!!!

Meyers doesn't band Cochins, only Marans. If you get a Blue
Splash Maran, I hope she(he) isn't a screamer like mine was.
She was so bad, I had to re home her.
Oh boy. Was she beautiful, though? Gosh, I can't imagine. I have an EE named Sarah that honks incessantly and both of my roosters (Black Copper and Blue Cuckoo) crow 24/7, but I can't imagine a screamer. My Blue Copper hen is very sweet and quiet. Thinking about it, I've never heard a peep from her.

Apparently, Meyer doesn't necessarily band any of them in the assortment. I thought they did so I made of a list of what I definitely didn't have (the banded birds) - it means nothing now.
I’ve ordered from them three times and have been super pleased with every purchase and delivery. I have one Exchequer Leghorn hen from them and her egg size is my only complaint. It’s very small and she’s the first to start molting in the fall. However she is gorgeous and not flighty.

Pictures! Please. I had read the reviews and knew egg size was a problem, but they are so incredibly pretty... I couldn't resist.

I know. I read that when I ordered, however I contacted Meyer yesterday to ask if the normally banded birds would be banded in the rare breed assortment and was told - direct quote

"They can be banded, but they aren't always banded with assortments"

So, I could have anything.

ETA: I only have 19 - I must have miscounted. Their brooder is 2' tall, so escape is impossible.
