Was this an owl? (injured call drakes) Graphic pictures in thread

4am would be early morning here...but that's all semantics.
Many preds can tear thru netting.....knowing what kind of netting would be interesting...but not necessary as obviously you'll need t replace it with something stronger. Sorry for your loss.

Yeah, i guess there are a couple ways to describe the timing... no sun out maybe should of been my first choice. lol.

Thanks. Frustrating dealing with predators.

Late morning attack.(like after 4AM) Heavy duty dog run, that was netted. Ripped my net in multiple places but no damage to my pen or any sign of entry.

I have a flock in there, but these two were injured. One has since died.(second pic) Been suggested it's an owl.

Suggestions? Thanks. Been one long night.

Are you sure that wasn’t a mink?

I have been using live traps. I bait them and set them not to go off for a few nights so the predators can take the bait then I set the trap and catch the predator. I check the traps every day to see if the bait is gone and I also have a camera there so I can see what predators are around the traps. Most often it will be the same predator that takes the bait. I have had some incidental catches mostly cats that I release. In years past I used leg traps but more and more people are buying land and building around us.
