Washington Party will be held in Kirkland WA February 28th '10

As I have said, I would go to the party anywhere it is held, as long as I had a way to get there from Donna's.... That said, I know there was at least one person who wanted to come from the Vancouver area, and Ethel and Mossyrock are quite a far drive too. I think, since Maltby isn't working, we should really consider trying to centralize the party a bit more. Tacoma is actually closer to halfway between some of the farther travelling folks. I would love to see the yes and nos be started someplace south of Seattle, if only just a bit. Renton, DesMoines, Federal Way.

If this party is going to be so far north, I think those in the south who don't think they have it in them to drive 6 hours or more that day, should start planning another party to follow this one. As much as I would love if we could get a large crowd, and meet lots of people, If I had to drive that distance, I wouldn't be attending.

Yes their is a complete kitchen and it comes fully stocked in the price. Also just FYI it is just off of the FWY, I fully understand the problem with it being so far north but just wanted to make the offer. I would personally pay the sixty-five dollars if the group would be interested. That offer is not to be construed as a lure, but rather to support the idea of getting together to meet one another. I'm not too far from Ferndale, and it'd be great for us, but pretty miserable for everyone else.....I know I wouldn't be able to make it if was in Vancouver (unless it was BC)! I know I'm "new", but I bet a lot of people can't drive this far north.

I can't see that far in advance. We really want to come and will be limited by 2 things. The distance and $$. I am willing to travel about 2 hours +/- one way but just can't do much more than that with DW.
Another idea of places to check are local fire stations. I don't know about in the bright lights but out here in the styx many fire stations have meeting rooms that can be rented. Just another idea.

I understand what your saying! Nobody wants to drive along distance. we seem to be pretty well spread out. If its in Tacoma, I think some one that lives down that way should do the planning. Once I get past Renton I am LOST!! that doesn't mean I couldn't find the party if its down there. I think Kim is in the same boat. We might have to have two parties, a North and South party. Then a get together in the summer.
Again the maltby place has NOT been ruled out. we were just looking for something cheaper

I got a call back from a place in Kirkland for $45 per hour. We can have it from 12:30-5:30 on the 28th. You can figure 1/2 hour set up qnd 1/2 hour clean up. 4 hours for the party for $225. I have been there, and it's a really cute hall and not very far off of I405. Very easy to get to. We could aslo move the party to the 21st and have it from 12-6 to add more time for $270. I am trying to look into places maybe in Renton. Russ, do you know of any place off the top of you head? THis place in Kirkland has a kitchen, but no stove, Ron and I have microwaves we can bring to warm things and I have a warming plate we can use too to keep some things hot. I think if everyone brings some of their own paper plates and cutlery we could keep this pretty low key and easy. What do you all think?

I'm fine with where ever. If it's up north, I have room at my house for one more person if someone wants to spend a night or two. If it's further south, I don't mind packing up Weavegarden (if she doesn't mind getting packed that is) and paying for a motel closer to where it is.

Centralia or Olympia might be a good location also, but like I said, I'm up for anything.

Correct me if I am wrong, but vancouver is approx 2 hours from the kirkland place, and Bellingham is about 1 3/4? I Drive to Portland and I know it takes me 31/4 hours from my house because I am out there a little. I used to live in Kirkland and it only took me about two hours or maybe 2.5 hours to get to vancouver. So if we have a place say from Kirkland or down to Renton that would be doable for most people? Just asking to see what we can come up with.
