Thanks for sharing. I think my chickens are organizing a strike and walking to California. Air conditioned coops!

ETA: I was impressed that they got "Easter Eggers" right.

[Curious About Chickens]

Yup(pies)! I read this as embellished satire. Chickens are definitely "in" around "the valley." I've seen the tour-de-coop on Craigslist. And people are welcome to quote whatever crazy fantasy price they want. I think we can all even laugh ourselves silly (and keep it to ourselves) on these forums with differences in urban versus rural expectations. "Elite" hobby. Clearly I'm behind the curve on how much stress & money I'm spending on this, as perceived by my favorite elite news organization.

Interesting articles, both of them. Crazed rich folks, and irresponsible others. Not different from other critters kept by humans. Responsible folks learn about the needs of the animals they want before bringing them home; other people dump the current dog, cat, or whatever, and get another.

Yep. I've seen several chickens dumped by the pond in town. Mostly roosters... I'd bet you my next paycheck they come from city people that want to 'give the chicken a good life' in the country.

We're at close to 350,000 members now.

I remember reading that article a few years ago.

It was presented to me by some, well...friends.
I read it, and smiled...

It wasn't worth my time nor effort to have them see the light. They were already convinced I was nuts when I told them of my latest distractions.
