Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

OK so I'm going to amend my offer a little bit with the chicks. IF Lucy doesn't kill the chicks...THEN I won't need those ones. If she does hurt any of them I'll just pick them up myself

Really nice of you to offer to deliver them to someone!
LOL. I should have used a different word than 'deliver'. I meant I could meet somewhere. I am in North Seattle, close to Shoreline/Lake Forest Park.

Oh well. I don't have a car right now so I can't meet. Hope someone will jump on this offer though.

Well, if Jessica ends up not needing them and no one else in the area wants them, I'm sure we could work something out. I love to visit other peoples' chickens. Maybe you could give me a little for gas money? Or eggs to sell? I have a waiting list for eggs in Seattle :)

I wish I had the equipment to keep the chicks for a while. It would be fun to have some. I'm at my limit of 8 chickens and there is only one that I'm not attached to, so it would be hard to figure out which 8 to keep.

I'm debating doing this egg/chick switcheroo tonight or in the morning...hmmmmmmmm (I don't like getting up early!

I don't know why I'm so stinking cold today!! It's not cold outside, but I've been freezing in jeans, cami, with l/s shirt over that. I just bumped up the heater and I'm sitting on it!

Either would be just fine. Gas money or eggs. I have plenty of eggs!

I know how ya feel, but it is all the time for me. Unless it is 80 degrees I am cold. Another reason why I loved Hawaii, even when we did the Road to Hana and it was poring on the other side of the island when we got there, it was warm and I loved it.

Oi! This is work.

I'm sorry. I couldn't help but bust up laughing at this statement.

After all, I spent my afternoon and evening doing a mass clean-up of the coop and brooder. I didn't want any cockerel feathers lying around in either. Plus I dug and smoothed out the run floor and filled in the two huge holes that the girls were attempting to dig to China. I attempted to put Latte in with the littles - thought it was going great because the littles ran up to Latte and was giving her lots of kisses. Latte did well for a while, then she decided to become the bully. I sat and watched for a while, then finally got Latte out and put her in the coop with the big girls. Rhodie went into attack mode. So, Rhodie got to see the world upside down for a while. I'm exhausted just thinking about all that happened today.

Yep. This is work.

Yes I was certain you'd laugh at that! I know how overwhelmed you've been with so many! Can't wait to hear what you get for those boys later on this week though. I really, really hope Lucy takes the chicks in the morning though, otherwise we'll be brooding them inside for a couple weeks and then growing them out from about 3-4 week in the chicken run. I'll have to rid up some chicken wire to make a separate area for them but it'll work if I make it work. I can use the rabbit hutch for their warm area and they can play in the run when they want to. In that case, I'll take the chicks from SFS too...might as well at that point!

So the "new" Blackie (an OE, DH's shoulder buddy) scared the living daylights out of me today. I went into the greenhouse to sit and watch them in the tractor and saw this black bird with a huge face muff. What!??? I was horrified to think I may have brought the wrong chicken to auction. Only the boys had face muffs yesterday! DH looked at her with me, held her - she went up on his arm. We *think* the little with the face muff is his shoulder buddy! We're not absolutely sure though. I guess she could be Snow.

But the one I thought was Snow went up to my shoulder like she usually does. I studied pictures that I took yesterday, and she's gotta be one of the "she's" because her comb is not like the combs on the 2 OE boys we took to auction.

How do they change so stinkin' fast? And how do you keep track of "who's who" when they look so much alike?
