Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I had 3 out of control tired kids so everyone is napping now. Actually, William is still screaming in his bed "I'm NOT tired!!!" It sounds like he's growling he's so mad. Hope he calms down soon. He was so tired he kept falling down!

Sounds just like my 3yr old! I have four kids in all but the other three are older so I don't have to deal with that with them anymore.....just preteen and teenage attitude!

great job on the coop Farns! How many chickens are you planning on?

I noticed you have the same type of fencing in the back that we have at our rental- lifetime stuff! I really like using the panel stock. I saw a guy using it for garden trellis- he grew pumpkins and melons on it- hung them in nets so they were upright.

I would get more, but the city says four chickens. And, yes, that fence material is great. I really like the look of it. I plan to grow lots of clematis, climbing hydrangea, and rose this spring/summer.

Anyone in Washington have snowy call duck hatching eggs? Even if you know someone just in the US that has or will have them I would really appreciate it! Please pm me.
Thanks

I'm getting so mad at the site i ordered a kennel from to seperate my ducks and chickens. I ordered it last thursday and they still haven't even shipped the package. It's a kennel it cannot take this long to even make the materials for it. I ordered it with their 4 day shipping. Then contacted them and they said "it will show up 4 days AFTER we ship it" Well that is totally false advertisement. when i click 4 day shipping in expect it to show up in 4 business days.

Travis - I have a rabbit hutch Lucy could go in with the chicks. I could lock them in at night and open it up during the day for her to take them out if she wants to. I could also use chicken wire and fence off a portion of the run (maybe a 4x8' section) for them all. Do you think this is too much moving for them all on their first day, or should I go for it so that everyone knows where home is once she starts taking them in the run. Also, if I do that, they won't have to figure out how to get out of the coop. And this would force all the other chickens to lay their eggs in the nest boxes of the coop instead of in the hutch. WDYT?

I've always wanted a climbing hydrangea. I had 3 vines that attract hummingbirds and bees at my place in Auburn-- white star jasmine, honeysuckle, and trumpet vine. Trumpet gets REALLY big - like wisteria, but I love the flowers, and i had good luck with getting it to climb a tall pole with a "T" on it . Since we just moved late last summer, I am starting over with my climbing flowers.

here's a pic of my trumpet vine. I should run over to my old house and ask the owners if I can get a start...

If the chicks can get into and out of the hutch safely, I say yes. But move them all in the dark again. I had my first broody in the 4x10 tractor, so 4x8 is perfect IMHO. With Betty Lu, I am going to keep her in the broody nest box I modded for her for a week, then I will open it up and she will be responsibe for the chicks from that point on.
