I just got off the phone with Becky at Wilco in the harbor and MY CHICKS ARE IN RESERVE!!!!
I can't remember when I have been this excited! It can't be healthy!! FRIDAY BABY!!!!! I saved room for one more, because I know I won't be able to help it if say,a certain Travis person is able to have Splash Orpington babies, no pressure.
I was browsing the broody boxes page and found that people were using dog kennels! I have an extra large one that's been sitting since we left my mom's place. Go-go-gadget utilization!!

Just be aware, Pig Pen will only produce Blue chicks, he would need another Splash hen to have Splash chicks.

I hate how there is no icons on the phones. The phone is the main way for me to get on BYC and there's no emoticons! I only know the codes for some of the simple ones.

Hahahaha. The chicks itsren is hatching will be Blue with a little leakage from the hen's color. So the Buff orp chicks will be Blue with maybe a hint of gold on the hackles. I am not continuing with the Orps in the future. Most of my laying flock will be Plymouth Rocks and Ameruacana/EE birds. Just love their temperament too much. If I was you, and wanted a Splash colored bird, I would find a local breeder of any breed that has a BBS pen. Now of course with my own hatching I may get a Blue Orp or 2. Then breeding them back to Pig Pen will give my 50% Blue and 50% Splash chicks. So next year I could have a Splash bird or 2?

Point defiance elementary tried killing pigeons with rice.   It did NOT work at all.  It was counter productive.  They ended up causing the pigeons to hang around even more and create nests.

Wow, what a horrible "experiment" for elementary kids!

Fairly productive school day today. We've stopped trying to do school in the mornings and are now using up our afternoons doing school. Much more productive after he gets some craziness out through the morning.

DH is going out of town from Friday through Wednesday and I'm excited I'll have a car (we share it). I told him "You know I'd miss you more if I didn't get the car the whole time you're gone"

Looking forward to visiting Sara and Farminmama on Friday!

I can't wait for you to come and visit. Just want to warn you that I do not live in a big fancy house. We live in a house built into a barn and I act as such lol. That whole saying "you didn't grow up in a barn did you" my kids can say yes and walk away from an open door that should be closed! I am a redneck country girl born to city folk. You may want to wear mud shoes of some sort as there is chicken poo EVERYWHERE.

I agree, I hate that there are no emoticons when I am posting from my phone. I am not cool enough to have an IPhone!
