Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

So...... I woke up sick this morning. I've been feeling like I have cheated fate for the last couple weeks with DS and DH both getting sick, one right after the other.
Unfortunately, my luck ran out

. I felt like I had strep throat when I woke up- yikes!

I had to drive to North Seattle and Bellevue today, for unavoidable/mandatory errands. I was also supposed to go to an appt with a specialist at the UW, but called their clinic and they said they did not want me there with a fever.

I've felt dizzy all day long. As I was driving, I felt myself about to nod off on the freeway, so pulled over and drank a bottle of Vitamin (?) water , and perked up, so kept going. On the way back, I stopped and grabbed a few things from Whole Paycheck for my son's special dietary needs, and headed home. I must have looked pretty whimpy, because my son actually unloaded the car with only ONE complaint. (record for a teenager, dontcha think?)
No way I could do one more errand today, though I was supposed to make one more run. I had to lay down or fall down .

I grated some fresh ginger in my IKEA tea pot (love it- has a built-in strainer for loose leaf-) and am simmering it for a few minutes with lemon and honey , hoping to sooth my throat. I sure wish I had some Marshmallow root!

Nurse! Nurse!!
Now.....where's MY nurse???

Oh so sorry to hear this, I've been really sick and run down since Christmas :( I got the flu, then a month long cold with checst cough that needed antibiotics to kick, well again but tired for 2 more weeks then caught a horrid cold again. I'm almost well again but finally picked up everthing I need to make myself some awesome Elderberry Syrup. I plan to take it every day to boost my immune system. Would you like me to bring you some next week when I make it? It will be completely organic, consisting of extract of elderberries, ginger, cinnamon, echinacea, cloves, and raw honey.

Hello, the Forum! It's my first post here so by way of introduction, I live in unincorporated Mason County near Shelton with my DP, 2 Corgwyn, 1 German Shepherd and 5 hens ( 2 RIR, 2 Ameracauna, 1 Australorp). The dogs and hens are free range on the fenced portion of our property. Yes even the Bad German Shep (there is history there... A tale for another time). We are looking to expand the flock this spring with another 4-5 hens and possibly a rooster. Nice to meet you all!

This thread moves fast so buckle up and enjoy the ride. Please jump right in with anything and everything, we don't just talk chickens here but are happy to answer questions. Nice to meet you!

I actually would be willing to take some that lost their mate.   not looking to breed them.   Just think they are adorable and am assuming they love slugs like most ducks do.   and they poop LOL     I love duck poop for my garden.    Put ducks in the garden area for a week before planting and the plants grow fast.

I believe they fly and you may need a permit for them. Not 100% sure.

Welcome! Jump right in.

There is a chicken show coming up in Monroe next month. I've been saving my egg money for any birds I find there.

Welcome neighbor! We're right around the corner near steamboat island.

Hey anyone have suggestions for veggies to grow out front of my house that look like yummy ones but actually taste gross?   I know this sounds weird but last year people came and took all my green beans when i wasn't home.  That is what i planted out front last year.

I plan to plant some corn out front that is the nasty starchy cattle feed type.    Trying to figure out some other things.   I hope when they take the corn and eat it that they take a huge first bite of it!!

I can't help, sorry, but I wanted to say that is an awesome idea! :)
