Hi guys I'm looking for a broody hen, I'm located just south of Portland Oregon. Each hen I get doesnt seem to go broody no matter what. So I'm just giving up for now and seeing if anyone has a broody hen they cant break or dont want anymore.

Sorry I broke my broody for now. I suggest getting a cochin, or a silkie. They go broody often. Mine are silkie mix's and cochin mix's. I've had 3 go broody on me. One was broody for almost 3 months before she gave up.

I just wanted to add -- to the kiddie pool idea-- in our breeding pens we use those plastic toboggan type of sleds, that have the shallow sides on them? --> at least for call ducks, it works perfect. Easy in and out for them, and easy for us to clean! :D But if you have the big ducks, those might be too small and the kiddie pool would work fabulous!

I have Muscovies. and my male is big even for a muscovy. They are one of the large breeds. I have heard from some that muscovies don't need water to play in but my ducks have told me otherwise. When i didn't have anything for them one of the females got stuck in the water bucket.

Awe, they sound so sweet. I will save them for my wish list for when we get OUT of the city, lol!

So...... I woke up sick this morning. I've been feeling like I have cheated fate for the last couple weeks with DS and DH both getting sick, one right after the other.
Unfortunately, my luck ran out

. I felt like I had strep throat when I woke up- yikes!

I had to drive to North Seattle and Bellevue today, for unavoidable/mandatory errands. I was also supposed to go to an appt with a specialist at the UW, but called their clinic and they said they did not want me there with a fever.

I've felt dizzy all day long. As I was driving, I felt myself about to nod off on the freeway, so pulled over and drank a bottle of Vitamin (?) water , and perked up, so kept going. On the way back, I stopped and grabbed a few things from Whole Paycheck for my son's special dietary needs, and headed home. I must have looked pretty whimpy, because my son actually unloaded the car with only ONE complaint. (record for a teenager, dontcha think?)
No way I could do one more errand today, though I was supposed to make one more run. I had to lay down or fall down .

I grated some fresh ginger in my IKEA tea pot (love it- has a built-in strainer for loose leaf-) and am simmering it for a few minutes with lemon and honey , hoping to sooth my throat. I sure wish I had some Marshmallow root!

Nurse! Nurse!!
Now.....where's MY nurse???

That's no good, I hope you get to feeling better soon. I made my DH swallow a clove of garlic raw, lol! He said his tummy bubbled, but he felt better, haha!!

Hello, the Forum! It's my first post here so by way of introduction, I live in unincorporated Mason County near Shelton with my DP, 2 Corgwyn, 1 German Shepherd and 5 hens ( 2 RIR, 2 Ameracauna, 1 Australorp). The dogs and hens are free range on the fenced portion of our property. Yes even the Bad German Shep (there is history there... A tale for another time). We are looking to expand the flock this spring with another 4-5 hens and possibly a rooster. Nice to meet you all!

I am going to have to get these growing!! I know I haven't seen ChickieLady on in quite a while, but she has the COOLEST raised garden beds! I wish our truck was running a little better, we sure would drive down to the ocean and pick some up!

Quote: That's just what I expected them to look like. You'll note that there are 5 or six cups and saucers. In Japanese, the word 4 and the word death are homophones. Traditionally, the Japanese didn't make sets of four anything.

Very cool! I didn't know that, and how interesting? Odds are better than evens anyway, and I know this for a fact! Everytime my 7 year old is at his mom's, it leave an even number of children, and they make A LOT of noise. However, with 1, 3, or 5 together at once, harmony!
