Hey if one of the 10 day old Speckled Sussex is ALWAYS out from under mama, scratching around, eating and drinking, and generally super friendly, is it probably a rooster? It's even got this teeny tiny comb (slightly larger than its' sister). I wonder...

Way too early to tell. They get pretty warm from under momma, they can spend a long time out from under her pretty quickly. Mine were out more than not by a week old. And remember, they become much more hardy with a broody.

Oh! If it IS a rooster, I can change the SS pair from Bella and Alice, to Bella and Edward!!
