Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi robj... we're scheduled to be out there at 1:00. Do you know when you'll be there? It would be nice to meet you and your little girl.
Are you planning to get chicks or grown pullets?
Carolyn I missed your your post we had a crazy morning, I was playing BYC catch up a little to long and forgot to wake up DD for soccer practice so we started a mad scramble to get going. We made it to practice on time, then completed the other running around and then out to see Cowgirlgrace at 2:00 so we just missed you. We went out for few chicks and ended up a victim of CHICKEN MATH

For those asking what kind of chicks I have that are extras: I have just one of white wyandotte, silver laced wyandotte, Dominique, buff Polish, white crested black Polish.
They are 2 weeks old now and so cute!

Just one more wouldn't hurt. Heck, nobody hardly notice. Easy peasy...

Hmm.. they would need a friend their same age, so you'd better get him/her a buddy. So get just two.

Two - well, what if you got both boys. That would not be so good. I'm sure you'd like to guarantee that least one boy and one girl from your pair. If you run the math, you'll find that if you get eight it the odds of all eight being the same sex are astronomical. But with just seven, that's not the case. So get eight.

Eight - well shucks, now that you are going to get eight, you might as well take advantage of the "buy 5 get one free deal", so pay for ten, and you'll have twelve.

Twelve - golly, that's not that many really. Might as well bump that to 16 to make it evenly divisable by eight so pay for fifteen, you'll get three for free for a total of eighteen.

Eighteen - that way if one gets sick you still have two sets of eight.

Two -- wait, if you have two sets of eight, why can't you have three sets? Your friends ask, "How many chickens do you have", and you answer, "Three sets".

Go buy twenty four birds.

Everything will be just fine.

Honest.

JUST SAY NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or maybe just one cuz your going to be close to feed store and the hatching eggs will need a big sister to watch over them!

Our $8 inCOOLbator is a success!

Both of my EE eggs were pipped this morning then one of them zipped- the window is now all fogged up (I am tempted to open it long enough to swipe with a paper towel, so having to restrain myself :

this guy pipped on the end and not much action yet:

I've got one Silver leghorn egg pipped so far, but none of the Russian Orloffs, Welsummer, or Barnevelders have started. yI'm chuckling because DH is hanging out at the inCOOLbator, talking to the chicks- "C'mon little guy, you can do it!".
VERY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well those are pretty darn cute. Does Cowgirlgrace have any left? I'm tempted to give her a call since the woman I'm supposed to be picking up Wheaten/Blue Wheaten hatching eggs from hasn't called me back. We messaged back and forth, gave me her number so I could pick up the eggs and now isn't calling me back. I've got some very determined Silkies waiting for those eggs, but they might be just as happy with chicks?
She does we left you some!! She may have some eggs if you want them we pick up a some Lavender Orp. eggs along with our chicks yesterday

Hi this is chickens4gramma. Well, I no longer have my chickens due to my parents declining health, but I wanted to offer my parent's greenhouse to anyone who would be interested in dismantling and salvaging it.. It is mostly glass with a glass screen door, a shingled roof with plexiglass panels, no floor. I have several pictures on my iPhone, but not sure how to get them on here. If you are interested, e mail me your phone # and I'll send them to you. My e mail is [email protected] The greenhouse is located in Auburn and is free to anyone who will take all of it away. We don't want a pile of stuff left for my 80 year old mom to have to haul away. It was custom built on site and was very expensive at the time. Thanks!

Last night I managed to resist the temptation of an addiction fix. Yup we were at Wilco in Kelso and I was able to look at the chicks and walk away.

But then was drawn back.

And walked away.

And was drawn back once again.

Just as I was picking up a box to but chicks in I hear a voice say. Put down the box and back away. We are closed YOU MUST LEAVE ! ! !
They have chicks, ducks and goslings in at our Big R now. But I always go and look.

This little khaki campell duckling came running out to see me from the crowd..... and somehow I left without it.
