Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

LOL that makes me smile.... My husband went to drill a few weeks ago and he had hay in his hair from being out in the coop and his sgt was like hey there farmer boy and he couldnt figure out what he was talking about... When he got home I am like um do you realize you have straw all in your hair... I just laughed at him.

I'd have to say that my understanding is that white ear lobes = white eggs. I'm sure there have to be exceptions, that's how evolution and genitics work :)
looked at that white egg again in the bright morning lite. It's White. OH well.

Full size Australian Shepherds can be as big as German Shepherd Dogs. Friend of mine has some huge ones.
What exactly is a "mini Auzzie" Are they a cross breed to make them small? Because I've heard they are australian cattle dog/aussie mix. I've heard they are result of breeding runts together. And aren't they now known as "american shepherd"

They bred small dogs until they bred them down in size. Started doing it back in the 60s.

They aren't a cattle dog/aussie cross. Those come in a few colors

They looks like this

and at 5 months old

He weighs 49 pounds and is the sweetest, most laid back dog. If he barks, I actually check because he is so quiet and there is a reason he's barking. He likes to go out and put his head out the living room window and bark once. Then when the GSD rushes out to see and bark at whatever it was, he runs past her and gets the prefered spot on the bed next to me. He used to think the chickens were going to eat him. He'll chase the canadian geese and the ducks off the lawn areas and be coming back faster than you can react. He knows I don't like them pooping on it. He's very much more obedient than the GSD. Always wanting to please me.

Sounds like someone needs to clean the nozzle on their spray gun.

Never feed anything Tums- (or other antacids) it's high in aluminum, can cause heavy metal toxicity.
(I wish I would have never, ever, ever taken any antacids)

I'm always looking to learn, so I tried to research this. No aluminum on the label, an M.D. from Washington.edu says there is no aluminum in Tums, and I found one place that quotes the mfg.: "GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare does not add aluminum during the manufacturing process of the TUMS
00ae.png
Tablets but one of the raw materials used in TUMS
00ae.png
does contain negligible amounts of aluminum, measured as parts per million (ppm), ranging approximately from 100 to 500 ppm."

Just to clarify, I wasn't suggesting giving a bird Tums on a regular basis, just a 1 time boost.
Isn't it a build up in the system that causes metal toxicity?

I need to place an order for egg cartons.  I'm looking at the view-able 1 dozen, pulp cartons.    I can either order 250 for 76 bucks (30 cents ea), or 2,200 for 520 (23 cents).  If there is enough interest,  I was thinking that there is probably time to have an order for 2,200 shipped to me and I bring some to Monroe.

Two thousand two hundred egg cartons - is a LOT -- who wants a few hundred?

Dave

Hi Dave

I'll buy some egg cartons from you. Count me in for 100. See you at Monroe.

Hard boiled eggs update; well I tried baking them. Even set the oven to 330. Results, threw them away. Not cooked through, just like my underboiled eggs.

OK, (I'm goinna be kicked outta the Husband's Union for this) I can bake a cake from scratch, make a pie from scratch including the crust, bake bread, including rye and pumpernickle. I don't cook goumet food but I do cook hardy stuff. I also love ethnic dishes and regional dishes.
BUT I CAN'T MAKE A HARD BOILED EGG!! Dang it. They are either over cooked or under cooked.
Can anybody tell me how to do this successfully and consistently? (I really hate green yolks)

I haven't caught up with all the posts, so forgive me if this has already been answered.
Cover eggs completely with cool water. Set on stove and bring to a boil. AS SOON AS THE WATER STARTS TO BOIL, turn the burner off and leave the eggs for 15 - 20 minutes, covered. Drain and rinse with cold water to cool them off. The reason for a time range is to allow you to adjust to your own liking. Easy Peasy.
I recently bought Eggies (as seen on tv) and they work very well. Got them for a reasonable price at grocery outlet.

ETA:
I did a little googling and found this in a few different places:
The harmless greenish ring is due to an iron and sulfur compound which forms when eggs are overcooked or not cooled quickly.

Whether or not the eggs are room temperature or refrigerated may make a difference in cooking time.
