Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

She has infected looking flesh around the eye ?
Irrigate with saline and if you have it, try Veterycin spray for eyes.
Maybe she was pecked around the eye ?
I am hoping she was just pecked in the eye or something, though there were a few small bubbles...

I have "quarantined" her and cleaned her eyes with saline solution. We'll see how she looks tomorrow.

Finally finished!! Can't wait for her to see it in the morning :-D

OK guys I still need 17 eggs for my incubator. I am getting 12 from Hallerlake and 12 from VF. I would love to have a full bator for Natalie. If anyone has any eggs please let me know. I thought I was getting 12 silkies from a lady in tumwater but she never emailed me back (. Thanks bunches.

I have fertile Hamburg eggs and (possibly) EEs, but how would you get them?

Pips- your scarves are incredible- and I'd like to reserve 2 of them: the demin- toned/light to darker blues one AND the rust, orange, cantalope, vanilla colored one. I can't seem to get the pictures to copy and paste here, and have been away all day so just barely able to skim posts this evening.......

4H lady- Congrats on the new baby- how exciting to be a gramma!

StumpFarmer- Congrats on the new calf, and sorry the goats had to go without hay. I miss having cows- my grandma had soem excellent breeding stock lines of polled herefords growing up, but my other side of the family just had a variety of unregistered cattle- guernseys and jerseys and herefords, holsteins, and angus, depending on what they were used for.

Trying to think of what else is news- seems like there's going to be lots of folks playing with chickens this week!

I was given a dozen fertile eggs from our russian friend so this evening my DH and I got the broody off her nest and swiped the 2 days of non-fertile eggs she was sitting on, and gave her a dozen ones that might end up as children! We poured her a nice fresh bowl of water and she drank like a fish. I figured she must have been very thirsty after sitting on different eggs for this last week. Silly hen,. She was very glad for the nice fluffy rolls I gave her too.

Next- we waited till our hens went to bed, and then got the ones with bald backs out of bed long enough to put nice little dresses on them. I can't really call them saddles, because they are so pretty and unique- with their names stitched on them, that they MUST be dresses. Our renter is the most wonderful woman- and talented seamstress. She's the mom everyone would love to have- and so I am just going to have to adopt her.

Nothing got done on our new hen house this weekend with the party and aftermath, but we are planning to work on it tin the evenings now that we have some daylight. Nest boxes, windows, chicken door, fencing- all needs done still- but we have the roost done!

Can't wait to meet everyone this weekend :)

I'm bringing these to the show. I've been working on them in my free time.
Very Nice! I think there is one that will look good on my beatiful DW I'll take a gander at the show.
Great. Rain for as far as the eye can see...right through this week end. I was hoping that this week end would be as nice as last......but looks like rain, rain, and more rain. Poop.

I guess I am ready for the show. I am bringing a few of the feed sack totes...................and an empty crate cuz I am looking for SKOVIE DUCKLES for a neighbor. It is early for ducks to lay, so I doubt any Skovie Duckles will be there for sale...but I still gotta look. Now it is bird bath time....how to get a monstrously huge Jersey Giant in my little sink is gonna be FUN.
You need to get the Chicken Bath on video that sounds like it a hoot!
Excited! Just heard my cream legbars are coming next week! Pretty good timing; my other babies will be going out to the new coop about then. Hopefully it gets finished this week in spite of the rain.
Cream Legbars are very high on my must have list.
Note this morning from my friend who has Bjorn And then she went on about how he started crowing at 3amPDT which... oh, well, so sorry.
I was outside after work and I was making your Roo crow on demand. My DD twas laughing but I don't know if she was laughing at the Roo crowing me or me Flapping my arms and crowing at the Roo!! Must have been laughing at him cuz I was looking Good while I Ereerreerrrrrrrrrrr! :gig
Rob, you and Christie would get on, I expect: she was talking to Bjorn the whole time she was here, and he was cooing back at her.

Is there such a critter as a non dairy substitute for cream cheese that is yummy and can be cooked? If there is can someone PM me cuz I iz Ti- Red an Needz to go to sleepzzzzzz.
Yes, yes, - Jess is right-

Daiya cheese came out with "wedges" which are tubs of cheese recently. The Jack is delicious and could substitute for cream cheese. The Havarti is the softest cheese "wedge", but it has jalepenos in it. (or maybe you want jelepenos for your recipe- whatever you are making?)

You can buy it at Fred Meyer and I'm sure the Oly Co-op has it. I know Safeway has Daiya shreds. ALL of the flavors are very good. I have tried every single fake cheese on the market in the decade+ of our dairy free journey and it's the only one I'll eat- except the homemade cheese sauces made from soaked raw cashews.

I made mac & cheese with Daiya, grilled cheese sandwiches, cheese burgers, quesdillas, chile con queso dip, toss chreds on taco salads and in greek salads (still miss my goat cheese, but I'm over the pouting almost), cheese N crackers, etc.
