Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I went to JoAnn's today to pick up some buttons for the back of Jeanine's new knit dress. Found some really great ones and snagged a few more things to buy. Came home...opened bag...NO dress buttons. Apparently I dropped them and didn't even check out with them! Grrr. I swear when those kids popped outta me, each one took some of my brain with them. I don't know I'll ever get those pieces back

Well, I've finally managed to get my grubby work-jackets washed; the one I had on when I untangled the calf was pretty rank.

The weather people are saying the rain's moving north, which is just fine with me, and with my sheep, Baaaachus, who is getting antsy in his pen. He HATES being out in the rain, was turned against it when his roof collapsed during the ice storm last year and he spent a couple of hours outside in the silvery nightmare, after I slashed his tarp so he could get out and while I was rigging him a shelter. I need to sit down and order a wool comb for my clipping machine tomorrow, so I can get him mowed.

I'm breaking down tomorrow and buying kennel panels that I can clad with small-mesh wire; the only way I can call other ways cheaper is if I don't count labor, and since I have to pay for some of that, it's not just the farmer delusion (the only way farmers make money is if they don't count their own labor). I already did the math on it, and would have bought them last summer except for the well needing a new tank and pump and then the refrigerator breaking.

OK someone talk me through this again. I Eprinex'd all the girls today because I found mites near Lucy's vent (broody mama with 4 chicks ages 4.5-6wks). I was naughty and also put a single droplet of it on each chick

DUDE...who has time for a friggin chicken bath on 4 uncooperative chicks?! So...they weren't showing signs of mites but I figured if they LIVE under Lucy, they're bound to get them soon or already have hidden ones.

SO, I know I need to re-do the Eprinex; EXACTLY WHEN SHOULD THAT BE? I've heard 7-10 days. But which is best to thoroughly get rid of mites?

ALSO, when to do the coop cleanout? Now? Or the exact day they get Eprinex'd for the second time? Trying to figure out timing on that because I can't physically handle doing it twice in a week. Thanks so much for listening and helping!

If it makes you feel better, I am homeschooling as well, and it feels like I am giving bits and pieces of my brain to my kids as well. I am forgetting things that I knew or should know, can't remember new information and sometimes can't even process it as well.

Ok I can't sleep. I keep seeing this commercial for a hose that I want now. The little one that shrinks when the water is off and let out of the hose and expands when the water is on. Man I really need to get to sleep. This daylight savings thing is really kicking my butt, I have woken up late every day so far but at least the kids have not been late to school.

I have started "working" at a barn two days a week. I don't get paid money but it is trade for riding lessons. I want to own my own horse once we move but it has been many years sense I was around horses on a daily basis and I want to make sure I know what I am doing and that I am up for the whole task. This lady really needed help at her barn because both her helpers went off to collage this year. She is 60 something and was feeling run down with 15 horses and stalls to take care of. She is a really nice lady and the horses are great. I get to go back tomorrow. Just glad that I could help her out sense I have the time while the kids are in school during the week.

I am going to try and sleep now, night ya'll!

Please help, I am looking for call ducks or bantam ducklings locally, but nobody around here has any. I was planing to go to the poultry show this weekend, but unfortunately I can't make it this weekend. So, if you can help me that would be great.

He's not a dumb chick - he is the dark in a very tight, confined space - I'm sure he's doing the best he can without a map and penlight.

Well she was smart enough to pip all the way through so she could breathe. She's been peeping under there and the silkie seems to be getting excited about chicks.

I also use Amazon.com and really like it. I usually order enough at one time I get "free" shipping. I really hate having to run here and there just to find what I want and sometimes after I get there (even if I call ahead to verify) they are "out of stock". Wasted time and wasted gas. Plus, like most people I also buy things on impulse. Not as bad as I use to be, but still.......So using Amazon, I reduce the "impulse" items.
I also buy my books on line, cooking tools, my guitar strings, picks and other accessories as needed.

I ordered a wok that I wanted and it said 18", and I thought that would be a very nice size as me and #1 son like oriental stuff and when #3 son comes to visit I would have a wok big enough for the entire family.
Holy moley Batman, was that thing HUGE. Way too big. Hammered steel, hand made in China, and very nice. #3 son now has it for cooking at his Elk Camp each year.
