Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

My chicks are driving me nuts already. Every time I walk away someone else goes to the feeder and rakes it empty. Its a hanging feeder but they still jump onto it, ride it around, and make a mess. Ugh! And they're on sand; so any time I scoop out the poop, a bunch of spilled feed gets wasted too. Little boogers!

One of us constantly watching CL for all the good stuff before it goes! IDK what's wrong with people and their furniture! I swear, the ones with the crud want to try and sell it to you, and the ones with sellable furniture want to take it to the dump! When we moved form Iowa, there was a FANCY, NICE, NEW looking sofa and side tables - IN THE DUMPSTER! why?

LaughingFeather - You always crack me up!! But seriously, Carolyn, I would have had a heart attack! Big giant fly-y bird trying to eat me!! Screw the chicks, I'm running to the basement!!!

Awe TPT. Sorry to hear about your friendly hen

I'm kinda a "Dawn" too, I'm an Audrey Dawn (but you have to say it country, other wise it's not as fun!)

Hey there Jahaworth! Welcome! Sorry to hear you have some pesky neighbors. Don't ask me what my DFH would tell you (it goes along the lines of "They can kiss my a%$") Glad to hear they have a foster family in the makin's!
Darn! What happens when I move out of Tacoma?! I'll be misplaced TacomaFarms.

Hi everyone. My husband and I are new to Washingtom and have been here with our chickens for about 3 months. And we have a huge problem.

We live and Yelm and everything has been going fine, but today our homeowner said we can't keep our chickens in the neighborhood we love in. I was wondering if anyone would be willing or able to keep our chickens for us? We will provide everything for them.

I don't like the idea of giving up our babies since we have had most of them for year.

It sucks that you can't have the birds there. All the cities just need to get on board and allow the few hens.

I am somewhat hoping that the posts will take. If that happens, then I'll just train the branches into a fence. That espalier sounds too difficult :) Fence is easier to say. We'll see what happens. I'm pretty sure it is black willow but could be elm, maybe even cotton wood. I'm not very good with my tree species.

TF - I have three types of willow -- weeping, crooked, and black - you are welcome to come and get as much as you'd like.

Cottonwood will root as well. I have a bunch of branches that fell in that ice storm last year that rooted in the ground and are small trees now. I didn't bother cleaning up the small branches. The big ones I broke off the side twigs and drug to the coops to use as roosts in the run.

When DH retired from the Navy we had some furniture and stuff we couldn't afford to bring across country. At the apartments we lived, they had a huge dumpster for tossing bedding and couches in. Everyone who moved left their good stuff on the ground outside the dumpsters so others could take it. There was only overhead lights in the kitchen/dining area, so we had several tall floor lamps we got rid of. I took the first one down and set it by one of the regular dumpsters, and there was a lady there picking it up when I was bringing down another. I told her we had a couple more and she sent her kids up to get them. She also got the really nice computer chair and desk. A guy took the two small bookcases we got rid of. Nothing we tossed was there within an hour of us putting it out. I'm very glad that it helped out others. Most the people who lived there were poor or military.

Our homeowner said he thinks it goes against local but definitely goes against the homeowner association. I didn't even know we had a homeowner association in our neighborhood.

against local ordinance"?? in YELM? (My BS meter is going off.)

This person sounds like they don't like chickens and have some crazy idea that you are going to bring some nasty factory farm and stench into their pristine neighborhood. On your home purchase papers, there will be info regading HOA or not.

Better yet- ask the person who told you chickens are forbidden to show you where it says that- make that person do all the work.

My friend Jen used to live in the Clearwood community in Yelm where there was a HOA. She hated it and moved!

As far as I know the no-cows-or-chickens ordinance in Yelm was passed in the late seventies or early eighties; it's sort of hilarious because of the actual factory farms outside of town, and because you can keep horses if the lot is big enough.

Well, I've got the pre-made 4X8X6 kennel, and the plastic 3/4" square mesh, and the 1/2 inch mesh welded wire, and nobody makes hand ringsets anymore (and who knows where Dad's is) and they don't cut greenhouse panels at Home Depot these days (ARGH) so I am in the position to finish two new pens, just not quickly.

And I accidentally took two kinds of antihistamines last night so I'm wandering around today with a head that feels like an over-inflated helium balloon, but MY WORD can I breathe!

Tacoma farms - this is typically what she does.

How cute both of them are!! Handsome Husky!
Ugh. I really don't like people sometimes

X2, how low they can go, it's really a shame because they end up causing THEMSELVES more stress than it's worth...(Karma's a B)
I should have been a little more clear...it was the landfill, and if it wasn't down a big ditch, I would have pulled it out for someone to use.
I will have to remember that for later, there are few apt complexes around here that probably wouldn't mind folks dropping by some lightly used furnishings. I need to have a garage sale

What are hand ringsets?
