I put down Elphaba. I am so glad I did too, her entire cavity was filled with a clear yellow liquid(not normal). And she had no eggs developing in her ovum cluster at just over 6mo. At least she is not in pain anymore. I just wish now that I would have done it a few days ago.

Farm/home raised pig versus store pig

Ok, I was going to do this before now, but got sidetracked. Last year we bought some piglets with a friend, and raised them at his property. When it came time, we did the slaughter, hang and butcher, ourselves.

Now, we used to go to Stewarts Meat Market for our meats (some of the best I've had) but now I'm really bullish on home grown. WOW is all I can say. Really well marbled, full of flavour, and simply mouth watering. Plus, you get the skin (crackling) if you raise your own. We know what we fed them, so we know that we are only eating the best. I only have one leg and some ribs left, so I'm saving them for a special occasion. Either pork leg or goat leg next Sunday!

Anyone who has the opportunity to go taste some, DO IT!

ETA: As far as being spendy, it is. BUT, I would rather eat good meat and less of it because of cost, than more store bought meat that isn't so tasty. JMHO

Cottonwood will root as well. I have a bunch of branches that fell in that ice storm last year that rooted in the ground and are small trees now. I didn't bother cleaning up the small branches. The big ones I broke off the side twigs and drug to the coops to use as roosts in the run.

35 yrs ago we built an alder fence like that and some did take root. I killed them though. The fence did not last very long. It rotted out quite fast.

I wouldn't look at any houses in an HOA. I saw how bad they were back in Virginia. You hear about even more horrid ones in the news fairly often as well.

The homeowner is well within their rights on not allowing aggressive dogs to renters as they can be held liable too.

In Fairfield CA they had a fight over the color of a house. It had been painted a slight shade darker than the HOA allowed. They made them repaint it. Talk about anal.

Hind sight is 20/20. You did the right thing. I hope that another girl will see your shoulder empty and jump on board.

Jess, I would switch to wet feed. I know you have a lot of $$ invested in the feeders. But with wet feed I get zero waste. I use dog food dishes and scoop the daily amount each morning, by dark it is all consumed. I make mine a real thick oatmeal consistancy. I still have my dry feeders for when we have a chicken sitter so they don't have to deal with the wet feeding. And when offered both, they prefer the wet feed.
What do you use in your wet feed? How often do you make a fresh batch? I'm going to get GMO-free feed for Paul, and I'm interested in a wet feed as a treat for my girls.
