Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Quote: My expression of my faith does not preclude or attack another's faith or lack there of. My expression of faith does not belittle nor defame anyone. It is my belief and others may have a different view. I will not judge them as they do me.
I do know this, if we keep this discussion up we will lose valued members and perhaps even the forum. I do not want to lose any members as this is the most enjoyable site I visit.

Well said Mike.

Quote: Here is the thing. Each of us needs to take a step back and look at the big picture. We are all entitled to our beliefs and our opinions and posting about your personal beliefs is not an attack on anyone elses beliefs. I agree with Paul, in that I will not suppress my faith or beliefs. In turn, I do not expect that anyone who does not believe in God to suppress their beliefs. Whether you are atheist, agnostic, Buddhist, Muslim, etc. The beauty of this country is that we have freedom of religion (or lack thereof), freedom from religious persecution and freedom of speech. I did not take offense to what Dave posted, as that is (i'm assuming) what he believes. We are a diverse group and as adults, we should be able to accept each others differences and stay civil regardless of what is posted. As long as each of us is respectful of one another. Each of us has either a lot of valuable information to share or a lot to learn. When tragedy strikes, as humans, we cling to whatever gives us comfort. For some of us, that is our faith. For some, it is our family. For some, it is our critters. Please, if somebody posts something about what they believe in, or don't believe in, don't take it personally. There is no reason for anyone to be offended, if we just accept each other for who we are as individuals. There is so much that we can learn from each other and not just about chickens.

Now, can we get back to some cute baby pics, please??

I know this is a sensitive subject. I'd like to THINK I'm somewhere in between the two polar opposites that are often expressed. I don't agree with either one. Someone said that god was good to have spared their friend anything worse than had actually happened in the avalanche. Someone else said how could that be "good" (I know I'm not quoting accurately, so please read on so I can make my point) Both of these comments kept me thinking. I decided that it was a case of "Cup Half Full" and "Cup Half Empty". They simply saw the situation from different points of view. I could debate either side.

When something shocking happens in our world it brings a lot of strong opinions to the surface. The tragedy HURTS US ALL. We all handle our pain in different ways. Some seek solace in the belief they are protected in some way. Some express anger that they feel unprotected.

Just as if you were observing from afar after a terrible tragedy. Would you take personal offense if a parent were lashing out at the universe, cursing god or ala or buddha or any deity because his/her child had just been killed. I think we all would look at the loss and see a person dealing with the tragedy in their own way.

Please, everyone, allow each of the people in our community to deal with the pain and anger and shock without feeling they are directing their comments at anyone personally. A different belief is not an attack. Yellow is not anti-purple. Stripes are not anti-polka dots. They are just opposites -- just individual beliefs.

Religious embrace...love thy neighbour...travel & learn.

That is what I tell my son.

Understand that not everyone is in the same spiritual level, but they are walking a path they are choosing.
Open your eyes and heart and learn each teaching...for they are all good.
It is not our place to judge.

And for goodness sake...stop knocking on my door!

My nanny would hunt for baby rats and drop them into a new bottle of Remy Martin.
They look like little peanuts in the bottle.
She would use that stuff for RA and for sprains.

Oh Geeeeeeeze !!!!!!!!!!!
I had Cambodians here last week end, the woman speaks no English, the husband a tiny bit....even still we could communicate & had fun.
She was dying for roosters, for broth.
She says it must be an old rooster & that only broth from an old rooster would make her arthritis feel better.
My Mexican friend brought the Cambodians here, and asked me if I ever had cambodian food, I says no...
he said Don't do it !
Their food is too much Ayo & too HOT !!!
That brought loads of laughter !
I assume Ayo is garlic ?

Do you Balut? I just don't think could stand the smell or texture.
but if I was hungry enough.......No grass sounds better.

I always wondered how they do it...incubate eggs until just the right time, then remove them from the incubator ?

I'm still getting calls from many of our Asian customers, for roosters. Some of them also wanted us to make Balut for them. (I'm not doing that though). I prefer roosters for broth. To be really scientific though, you'd have to make one pot with a roo, and one with a hen to taste them together to see if there really is a difference.

Oh, man...  I don't expect everyone to think or believe like me,  but I don't expect my beliefs to be belittled, either.  I feel like I was just slapped in the face.  I was about to post my own thoughts on the subject (which are every bit as logical as yours), but I don't care to be belittled further.  I think I'll go have a good cry.  Thanks.

People can disagree, and disagreement is not "belittling." I have my religious beliefs disagreed with here every day, but all it makes me feel is more determined to witness without the compulsion to preachify.

I wish this place had the same rules as my mother's dinner table (and Miss Manners', and Emily Post's) because politics and religion are too personal for mixed groups, and its the mixture that makes this place valuable to me.

Not sure what Ayo is, but some Cambodian food is really good. I couldn't tell you what the dishes that I had tried were called though. I love hearing what different cultures use for the different ailments. I would like to try some of them, as most of these cultures seem to be heathier than we.
It was hysterically funny hearing the Mexican say the Cambodian food is too hot !
