Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Quote: People with pollen allergies should not use clothes lines. They do not belong in the front yard where the clothes will collect road dust. They don't belong in the backyard where they will collect chicken poop.

But the man we are in contact with from the code enforcement said "Therefore: If the chickens are kept for a food source, they are NOT a pet and are prohibited in the R-4 zoning district." So I'm holding onto hope that when my husband calls later. We will find out that since we don't want chickens to EAT, but as pets and a hobby, we'll get good news! Hope it's not too late as I'm not seeing many places saying baby chicks for sale anymore!
If you can get written permission from the city of Yelm to have chickens, I will hatch you a dozen multicolored Brabanter chicks.

To some people one is acceptable preperation of food and the other is not. Boiling a chick-in-the-shell sounds gruesom, but boiling or steaming crabs alive is acceptable, likewise lobster. It's in your perspective. Crabs, lobsters are ugly, chicks are cute and loveable.

It's never too late! There are places that sell chicks well into fall and if they don't there are lots of helpful enablers here to set you up!

Graham Hay Market sells chicks until fall. And there are a whole bunch of enablers on this thread for when you can get chickens.
