Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The second batch of ducklings have had their first bath and now their first swim in a tortilla warmer. I am selling the four darker ones and keeping the lighter one pictured seperate in the first picture.

I have a question for the call duck experts. Can you help me to determine what colors my babies will be, I purchased them from a lady who saved me various colors to hatch but didnt seperate out which was which so I'm a bit at a loss. Also is there a way to sex a call duck baby besides the obvious vent sexing, I havent done that before and worry about hurting them if I do it. Thank you in advance for all your help. Michelle
If it lays an egg it's a girl!!! :lau Sorry I couldn't resist!! Vent sexing is the way. Not easy to do especially with the tiny call babies. Or wait a couple weeks and listen for a difference in their voices. A more distinctive "QUACK" in between peeping is a girl. A gurgling awkward peeping is a boy. I was able to start telling the difference within about 3 weeks. Usually during a bath or when getting peas and excited is when the girls would slip out a quack. Yellow usually goes white or buff. Black=black, Brown=brown, gray=blue or silver Not much of a science to it with ducks. I specifically bred only blacks because it would creep out Blueduckling!! :lau  But I have been known to have blue and browns. I just really love blacks because of the pearly iridescence in their feathers! :drool

Thought I'd let everyone know after two days of labor my son and his wife have a wonderful baby boy. Nolan is six pounds two oz and is 19:ya inch long. She had a c section in the end. Everyone is happy and healthy.
That's great news! Congratulations!
This one is still my favorite!!

Flirty31!! That is a GREAT lookin flock!! Your puppy reminds me of our dog Raider so much!! S/he's so gorgeous!! Isn't s/he in your profile pic? (Sorry mobile makes everything so dinky)

Your dog is beautiful!

Thanks so much you guys!

My dog is actually some kind of mini aussie mix (I think), I don't really know because she's a stray from the Humane Society. Both our dogs came from there and they're both great. She is actually in my profile pic too, when we got our first set of babies, she was almost protective or mothering of them. She never hurt them, and she let them climb all over her. She growled at my other dog if he got too close to the chicks. Which could have been protective or it could have been like puppy guarding food, I'm not sure, but I never allowed them alone with her without human supervision.
