Hey! They've got a website!. Not nearly as much fun as the store, though.

Be sure to get on the mailing list for their retail store because every month they send out a "mailer" with the coupons for the coming month. Usually there's a 35% off coupon and they are date specific. They don't flood the papers with coupons like Joann's does. If you need the June mailer, PM me. Oh... if DH, or a non-sewer goes along, there's a public library just across the street.

Hi and welcome to the group!

There are several people out in your general area. Every few months they tend to have a meet-up at Third Place Books in Lk Forrest Park. So keep you eyes peeled. And it's usually done on short notice, maybe 3-4 days. If you look back a couple of weeks, on this thread, you'll see Honeysuckle Hills, she is often the instigator. I keep trying to make it to one, but haven't been lucky enough, YET.

Thanks for the great welcome!!! I am really enjoying this site so far. I have 2 rhode island reds, 1 rhode island white, 1 black sexlink, 1 silver laced Wyandotte, 1 brahma,. They are absolutely beautiful hens! I have a coop in my backyard, and let them range in the backyard for anywhere from 1-8 hours a day. I am consistently getting about 4 egss a day but one of my hens has a broken leg :( and one isn't laying yet due to her age....

If it was up to me I would have a FARM but my wife wont let me... lol We live in a new housing development in Bothell and I kind of SNEAK the chickens... haha

They are so much fun! I don't give them a ton of left overs right now other than cabbage and corn, but I would like info from you all on WHAT to feed them other than the laying feed.

Thanks all!
Hi! There are lots of us in this area, I am in Northeast Seattle but there are people in Mill Creek, Kenmore, Woodinville, etc. We get together once in a while. FUN people :)

I feed almost anything to my chickens. When I'm preparing a meal I have a big bowl that I throw everything into, including egg shells, no raw meat or bones. After the meal I scrape plates into the bowl, then give the bowl to the chickens. There are very few things they won't eat~ mine don't like peppers, onions, or carrots in any form. Cooked/raw whatever, they won't eat them.

welcome. I am in Lynnwood, just a few miles from Bothell. I have a young mixed flock . . . no eggs yet but soon. We have a nice group
in the north end and have get-togethers every few months at 3rd Place Books in Lake Forest Park. Keep an eye out for the message.

Sweetmsmisty, feed the gosling NON-medicated chick start and make sure whatever you use for water has a large enough opening for it to submerge its bill. I would say it's best to have another gosling for it (check craigslist and feed stores) but I'm sure a duckling or two would help. In the meantime spend as much time with it as you can as they get lonely. I'm no expert but have read a great deal as this is my first year with geese and ducks.
