Worked myself to a standstill on the hatching cage; having a little nosh and then going out to finish itbefore my daughter comes over at 6pm to help move the chickenand set the cage down correctly. Had visitors watching me work yesterday, which slowed me down being as how I couldn't swear properly.

I'm babysitting 13 Marans/Ameraucana chicks right now. The dog got one, but we got it back again, so they are all now in my office so I can keep an eye on them. I love the little beards and muffs, and the feathered legs. They are all black or blue, except one which looks like it might be silver. Owner will be collecting them soon, I hope. This cardboard box is not much of a brooder.

Hmm, thinking it might be a splash rather than silver.

One of the disadvantages of working alongside a logger/farmer/construction worker since infancy is that my swears are much more ordinary than those.

I finally got the hatching cage together and the hen and her nest moved; she's got water but no feed because I ran entirely out of oomph after doing my evening chores and I'm about to fall over.
