Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Stumpfarmer:

is this one of your chicks? Hubby got them mixed up - I think this is one of yours. CL marked hers JG and the Marans are obvious. I know you gave me some Am/Aus, but can't remember if the BLRW were marked. Some are marked W (Wyandotte?) so are the others Hamburgs? Is this a Hamburg? (I hope they all hatch early - although it's only day 19)

No picture, but yes, Wyandottes are W; the Hamburgs are R (for Roches: Maggie and Terre and Suzzie. They don't give out their names or their phone numbers).

Early? YIPE! I am so very not early-ready, everything has been dragging me down all week and at the moment I've got a dead rooster and a sheep who's gotten loose on fifteen acres to deal with, besides the whole trying to finish the hatching cage for the d'Anvers and having everything I do go sideways on me.

Oh, yeah, and I need to spend at least three hours today getting family pictures copied and fixed for the wedding. Which is two weeks from tomorrow. For which I am also not ready. ARGH.

If you want to put them on CL and keep what you can get for them, go ahead. I am possibly not competent to deal with the complexity into which I have stumbled.

(Did it all go wrong when I dropped out of graduate school and fell in with the Episcopalians? I just don't know!)

Quote: They are the cutest little things, even though so far only one is fully out. I can wait until Tuesday if you like (I will wait for all to hatch).

Sorry you are having so many issues lately. I reckon it's the Episcopalians as you thought.

Oh, on the other hand, perhaps someone here or BYC is looking for Hamburgs? . . . .

and just so everyone doesn't think I'm a total idiot, here's the pic

I'd be a lot more entranced with how cute Hamburg chicks are if it weren't for the fact that I have ten of them in the hall bathroom, and one just crowed. I need to finish my cheese and crackers and go retrieve the cage-part I broke while putting it together (pilot holes are not optional) now that the glue has dried, and pick up eggs/check feed and water/pull grass for the rest of the chickens/ catch the roving sheep/ feed said sheep/turn off sprinklers/ take my underwear off the line/ et'c and so on and hope that nothing else has broken, escaped, gotten sick, or hatched early, since Cheery's kids are also due Tuesday. Them, I want: I'm hoping for at least one cockerel who can be bred to a Porcelain hen and come up with Porcelain chicks.

not sure if it is allowed but i have a plymouth rock (white rooster) pretty boy and sweet that i need to rehome. hes been around our dog and car and fine with everybody. im in a subdivision so can only have the hens. I'm in yelm and if anyone is interested please shoot me a pm :) he is 4 months old and solid white. really pretty and been our pet

Well, except for not having a small enough machine screw to attach a bracket to the cage-wire, and needing to install ground anchors for the corners, I'm done with the hatching cage. I also figured out how to make a faster pen for the d'Anver's young 'uns, and the sheep came home when he was hungry and tired from bouncy bouncy bouncing all over the pasture.

I do believe I need to get something to eat now, assuming I can stand up again. I really need to remember the next time I sink a chunk o'change into cage wire that the 24" stuff may be much less expensive per 100 feet but the 36" is easier to work on because it's waist high

Well shoot. I wanted to post some pics of the 2 chicks that are now 6 weeks (?) old. They are very nice looking orps/rir and jg/rir. Can't figure out how to do it. Machine just says wait. grrrrrr

Anyway I have 8 hens and got tadata! 9 eggs today. Each and every one is extra large (which is normal size for these girls). Some days I get huge JUmbo eggs, they won't fit an extra large carton. Ok now I posted them (still don't know how) and if you click on the pic they will enlarge.
