Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

#1 where are you getting organic for 19.99/bag? #2 Where are you getting layer for for $13.99/bag? I am paying between $16-$18 for a 50# bag of Dels brand or Payback. Organic runs about $35. If I could get organic feed for $20/bag I would make the drive across the valley. Although no corn now soy.. what does that leave? lol

#1: I get my non-gmo feed at Bills (Country Farm and Feed) in Enumclaw. :)

#2) I used to get the layer at Del's also in Enumclaw but I switched a while back to the organic stuff. Prices may have gone up since then. I know that Bill's layer feed is way more than Del's but Del's doesn't have the organic stuff like Bill's does.

Honestly I'm not sure what all is in the no-corn/no-soy stuff but I know my chickens LOVE it and I've noticed a difference in the color of my egg yolks too. They're so much brighter. I think it's totally worth the extra few bucks to spend on it. Plus, when selling my eggs for eating people really like to know that the chickens are fed a non-gmo diet.

Patriot Feeds makes the non-gmo feed. They're based near Olympia and there's only a couple local feed stores that have it shipped to them to sell. Bills is one and I believe there's one in Tacoma now that does too. I'm not sure of the name but that might be closer for you than Enumclaw. :)

Yes I know where to get Patriot Feeds but its no where near $20/50# bag. IN fact I think its $30 for a 25# bag. Dels layer pellet/crumble is @ $15.99 as of 4:12pm today Just off Roy Y.

EDIT: Oh nvm just saw the ingredients for the Non gmo feed. No longer interested but thanks for the info.

What city do you live in? Kitsap County is a big place

Poulsbo/Kingston area. i know of cenex and farmland. i try to avoid farmland due to the illnesses animals developed shortly i got from them there (Ex: rats with respritory problems sneezing blood til they die at 6 months old from improper rinsing after cleaning tanks with bleach). hence my short supply of options.

$30 for 25# yikes! I buy 3 50lb bags at a time and only pay $20 each.

one of my hens just started laying... I can bring 2-3 eggs to work with me tomorrow. Not sure if they will all be fertile but when I checked the latest egg it was fertile. They are EExBCMx?... Let me know if you want them.
On Thursday it will be 3 weeks since I put your eggs under my broody girl. Can't wait to see if any hatch!!!

Thought this was worth sharing.

This outbreak alert has been sent to present and former NPIP producers to confirm the diagnosis of very virulent Infectious Bursal Disease virus in Washington State .

WSDA received laboratory confirmation of vvIBDV (PCR and molecular sequencing), in an outbreak affecting 6 week old chickens in Thurston County. I recommend enhanced biosecurity to reduce the risk of infectious disease transmission. This is the first time vvIBDV has been diagnosed in Washington State. We do not know the source of this outbreak in Washington. In California, Dr. Maurice Pitesky (University of California, Davis, Cooperative Extension poultry specialist) has reported that transmission has been linked to exhibition poultry purchased from Craig's list. Information on vvIBDV can be found at the California CVMA and WSU AHFS lab facebook web sites below.

Sincerely, Lyndon

I buy 50 lb bags of non-GMO, no-corn, no-soy organic feed for $19.99/bag here in Enumclaw. That's top of the line best stuff you can get. You should be able to find your feed cheaper. Just regular plain old layer feed is something like $13.99 per 50 lb bag of the 'Excell' or 'Dells' brand. I hope you can find something cheaper, sorry you're having to pay that much!
what company is that ?

Hi There,
There are a few other places if you're ever out and about. Watch the ads for Wilco in Gig Harbor; Drive Thru feed on Key Peninsula carries Excel as does a Redneck Feed at 1871 NE Old Belfair Hwy (they sell at their farm, easy to miss, great people), and Dels has a store in Port Orchard. I generally try to buy feed when I know I'm going to be near one of these places for some other reason. Cenex always seems pretty spendy to me.

What brand are you buying that's in just a 20# bag, that's awfully small.
