It's red food color in the water, my niece and nephew like doing that it doesn't hurt the chicks. The jar is very dirty thanks to the hen. she enjoys shooting her poop and even washing it daily it ends up like that after an hour *sigh* she aims her butt at it.
Strawberry Jam! Yum!![]()
Does anyone in WA breed sell Blue Marans ?

I had a broody EE hen that was shooting poop. nastiest thing i've ever seen. She'd been wormed. She just was drinking a ton more than she was eating. After the eggs hatched and she started eating more normal, her poops got back to normal.
That is soooo funny…..My Fav. chicks are doing the same thing…..lil dumplings. Their parents are *big*…….They're not any bigger yet - I just separated them so I could post their picture on the breed thread. Actually the Favs are the biggest chicks and they eat like no one's business. I have found a couple of them napping in the food dish![]()
Yes, that can happen, with broodies.I had a broody EE hen that was shooting poop. nastiest thing i've ever seen. She'd been wormed. She just was drinking a ton more than she was eating. After the eggs hatched and she started eating more normal, her poops got back to normal.
What kind of ducks did you get ?I drove to Holderread's in Oregon today for a pair of ducks and I picked up Catdance Silkie eggs on my way home. This is such a fun season since I love hatching and raising babies. I have hatches due this weekend and in just three weeks I should have some beautiful Silkie babies. I had to convert one of my still air incubators to a forced air incubator so I can hatch more chicks since I use still air for duck eggs and forced air for chicken eggs. I know betterr than to count my chickens before they are hatched but the anticipation of the hatch is something to look forward to so I can start experiencing the joy right away.
It was such a pleasure to meet with David and Karen today. I have considered the possibility of attending bird shows in order to learn more about breeding and showing but I always hesitate because I don't want to deal with rude people. I was fortunate to meet some very nice bird people today and it has me thinking it might be worth putting up with rude people in order to get to know good people better.
I have a hatching room in my home and a brooder room in our shop so I can hatch and raise babies so now we just need to build indoor coops so I am not limited to the number of "small animals" I have for "accessory" use in my yard. There is no way I am parting with my ducks and .my Silkies.
