Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The posting I did up there, was a short crop of life from the past 4 years.
I no longer have Light Brahmas.
I had them in CA, when I moved up here.
I had PBRs when I moved down there...........Brahmas when I came back...go figure.
Always fun at a gas station in Oregon, when you have 20 chickens in your minivan....

20 chickens and 10 California Meat Rabbits, cages, feed, and 2 dogs, both Labradors, all in a minivan in September.

That is when we moved here.
And there was nothing here but a 10x16 storage lawn mower barn.

September 1st.

Ha ha ha the first chicken coop, we still had no electricity at this point...no refrigeration, and it was HOT, pushing 100 everyday, until the end of September, and it got COLD.
I spent days stuffing insulation & sheetrock into the little 10x16 cabina, and DH went back & forth to CA to bring all our critters & stuff up.

To the left behind the solid oak shelving (LOL) is the shower stall....................

I drove up pulling the trailer with the shower stall, and DH drove up in the mini pickup pulling the little boat.
He went back down after that & got the 72 Impala and pulled the big boat up.
Then we built our house.

Then, and NOW:

There ya go, a speeded up version of what just happened in the last 3 years.
Except the coops...yup, we built more coops & pens and then we built the house, which is a story I'll post tomorrow or the next day~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I got both of the babies at Columbia Basin Feed & Supply in Kennewick. I can't imagine they're aren't some kind of cross at the price (I think just 4 or 5 bucks), but she DOES have little face tufts, so who knows. I'm not so much caught up on breed as I am in getting them to egg laying age! Thanks for the reassurance on the sleeping, I found a thread with sleeping baby pics and it's pretty much hilarious. I'm glad neither one is sleeping on their backs, though, I might have a heart attack if I looked in and one of them was cockroached out!

I love your pics of the homesteading progress! It looks like you have your own piece of heaven going there!

My last hatch - the Faverolles would fall asleep in the feed dish ( and then wake up and start eating again)

I have my chicks! Behold, unnamed auracana and unnamed Rhodes Island Red. They're acclimating to their new home right now. Should it make me nervous when they're quiet? They peeped all the way home from the feed store and now that they're settling in they're being really chill.
Where on earth did you find an Araucana ? Oh yes, babies will sleep...they will often just stop, drop & go to sleep just like any other babies, puppies, kittens, human babies~~~~~~:D
Feed store it says so it's actually an easter egger. Nothing wrong with them, I have enough of them. Won't look like an araucana.

Some of mine have been very friendly. I have six that are 3 years old and still are laying 3-4 eggs a week.

And the stupid phone wasn't working right to quote
