Keep trying or go for a trap, it is easier & less chance of shooting off a stray round. This morning at 7:45 I thought the hens were making more noise than usual. I looked out the kitchen window and thought, "Oh, a little deer is in the horse pasture." Nope! It was a coyote. It was walking 150 feet behind the barn where the pasture drops down a steep hill. By the time I got my shoes on and went outside it was already headed down the hill. I managed to get one shot off but it was headed into the woods. I know it will be back. All chickens and cats are accounted for this time. I wish we could get one of them to make an example for the rest of the pack. A couple of weeks ago they killed a deer in our horse shelter. Yuck!
