Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

So I hatched out some BBS Ameraucana eggs from a NPIP breeder in New Hampshire - 3 hatched unfortunately all of them blacks. I have 2 black Am cockerels and I only plan to keep 1 one of them. Is anyone interested in a 8 week old Black Ameraucana Cockerel? Free of course to fellow BYCers. If interested let me know, I can snap a picture of the young lad.

I gave my girls a test a few months back when our garden beds were full and lush. I put each of our girls in the middle of the three beds, one at a time, and watched to see what they would do. Would they eat all the lush greenery sitting right in front of them, or hop to another bed and eat something else..... No, they did neither. What they did made me laugh. Each one of them completely ignored the veggies such as; lettus, kale, spinach, and hopped down off the raised garden beds to scratch in the cedar chips below, to look for bugs.... They love the greenery for treats when we give it to them, but when put in the garden surrounded by the stuff, they all ignored it and would rather scratch.... silly birds.

Well I'm sorry, I don't have any eggs to bring to you. The fourth silkie hen decided to molt, as did most of the large fowl.

One rock is so bad now she's living in the bathroom because she's to cold outside. Not enough wing left to cover anymore either and she's having a hard time getting up on the roost. Her body is naked. Just the new feathers on the head and bow where she'd molted them in a couple weeks ago. She'll probably lose the rest of the flight feathers today or tomorrow.

This was a couple days ago.

She looks even worse right now. I just let her back outside. Much to her delight. This is by far the worst molt I've had on any bird. She didn't molt like this the last two times.

I couldn't help it... I laughed! This poor chicken! That has to be awful for her. I appreciate the thought! I only have 1 hen molting right now I'm bidding on some eggs on Ebay. I've been talking to the seller about how the eggs are wrapped up and shipped for about a week or more... they'll probably be glad to be done with me! LOL

On a side note the bus driver got sick and bc of a lack of drivers they canceled the kids' Field trip.

They are trying to re-schedule but the weather just gets worse from here!

Ughh! One of the chicks that hatched out in July isn't doing well. She was our "sticky chick" that pulled through but has always been smaller than the others. She is nearly 3 months old and is still feathering out. I figured she might be getting cold at night due to lack of feathers, so we brought her in the house today. I have not seen her eat anything, but her crop isn't empty. We aren't holding out much hope for her, but she is still alert and has no other signs of anything being wrong with her.

My Orpingtons arrived today! I'm so happy with them. They are crazy lil fuzzbutts zooming around.

One appears to be having wry neck. I'm attempting to treat it, but it's one step forward, two back. :(

Otherwise they are all just cute as can be!
