Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I just bought an incubator and am having trouble getting it regulated. The humidity is too high. The temp will be steady for a whole day, and then the next day it will start staying at 96 or 97. I turned it up this morning and will wait to see if it holds at 100 through the day. The eggs are going in tomorrow so I'm hoping it figures it out!

I've had so many problem incubators! I've tried a super nice looking no name off Ebay, 2 different styrofoam ones, and one that my step dad made. All killed hundreds of dollars worth of eggs. I gave in and bought a Brinsea Mini Advance and have had perfect hatches ever since. It only holds 7 chicken eggs but now that I've used it numerous times and know I love it I'll spend the money on a bigger one. Brinsea's are spendy but so worth it if you are hatching expensive birds.

I finally got an incubator this year. I'm running my first batch of eggs in it right now. Brinsea octagon 20 advanced with humidity pump. Once I got it all together and running, it's been great so far. Eggs are growing and due next weekend. I just have to checkup on it.

Very Sweet!  I hope the one gets better quickly.

Thank you! I've never dealt with wry neck but found great info on threads here. She seems mildly better and even tried eating and drinking on her own today. I'm supplementing her every three hours as my schedule allows.
I just don't want her to suffer unnecessarily, especially if wry neck is sort of 50/50 that they'll recover.

I'm so totally smitten with all of them though and they love to sit in my hands. I could watch their antics all day!

Hello! Newbie here in Bremerton WA. Waiting for a coop to arrive and then to get this three hen circus up and going. ;) I'm thinking about getting pullets and skipping the chick care, since my boyfriend and I are on the shipyard schedule and there'd be no one to come do midday checkups on them if we did.

Hello and welcome!
I'm a newbie chicken keeper, and have found everyone here to be so very helpful. Do you already know what breed(s) you are interested in acquiring?

I just went to Bremerton for the first time this past summer. Enjoyed the Naval Museum and a delicious El Salvadorian restaurant!

Welcome! We started with week old chicks. Then we got impatient waiting for eggs, so we go a couple of hens that were already laying. Both were great experiences. I still love the hens and all the chicks.

Another yard worker : ) Welcome to the group! We got most of our birds mid summer from Farm land in old town Silverdale as chicks. There are a few breeders within 2 hours of driving depending on what you want. I am anxiously waiting for spring now! PM myself or Carolyn, we both live in the immediate area if you want to stop by and see our setups and talk chickens : )
