Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Met with Ochochicas today and bought some BEAUTIFUL eggs! I got them all the way home and to the counter and didn't drop them!

Thank you for meeting with me. I can't wait to see the look on the kids faces when they see all the colors of the eggs for them to try to hatch! DH looked at the bcm eggs and liked those the best. He didn't know the brown was that dark.

Here is one of the bcm eggs with my flash light i just bought... I can see through it pretty good!
It was nice meeting you today! I really love the Marans eggs. I hope they all hatch for you and you end up with some nice Olive egger pullets. I incubated 8 dark eggs this summer. Seven of them hatched with a broody (it was actually the Black Copper Marans whose eggs you have now) and the 8th egg was not fertile. The dark coating on Marans' eggs seals some of the pores and makes them less susceptible to getting bacteria in them = better hatch rate!

I love your light. Might have to ask Santa for one this year.

Here is the pic of the rooster for the EE and OE eggs. He is a bit older now and has more rooster feathering and a larger comb.

And the cream legbars. They are molting so the pic isn't the greatest.

I'm having some integration woes. I just placed my two BCM's and remaining Cream Legbar into the coop with the others last night. They've been outside together foraging for weeks, and have been able to see each other for a couple months, but slept in separate coops. Of course, this morning I find my RR bullying the new girls. I understand there will be challenges to establish a new pecking order, but she just wasn't letting up, chasing the new ones and cornering them. So I isolated the RR inside the run. She has good and water, so I plan to keep her isolated a couple of days. Things are much quieter in there now, but the new girls are still keeping to themselves, and try to hide in the corners; especially my Cream Legbar. I hope it works out. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

So I found a free shed that would be perfect as a duck house.... but it's pretty big. And in Shelton. And I have a small sedan.... lol. I am considering finding a way to make this happen anyway. And yes... I am the woman whose husband said no ducks and decided to just do it anyway. I wonder if he'll even notice. Lol. He never goes out back after it's too wet/cold to bbq or mow the lawn anyway.

My weekend hatch. 17 silkies and one ameraucana

400

I will sell some of the silkie chicks. Can PM me if interested.

Sounds like you're doing all the right things. Give them a few things to dart behind like an overturned bucket or a tub. I usually set them near a corner. Mine like them even on a normal day. The bully might need a few extra days of time out, only time will tell.

I had a bully once I put her in the coop In a tiny dog kennel overnight. The other chickens roosted on top of her and yes she got pooed on. But I cleaned her off and set her free the next morning and everyone was good! But every chicken is different.

Well, all the new girls made it into the coop last night, and slept right next to the old ones (minus the bully). But today they've been hiding out in the coop. I placed extra hiding areas in the run for them, and there are several feeders and waterers. I also placed one of each in the run (along with some fodder), but should I force the issue of them coming out into the run?
