Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hey Tajuano, I'm Diamond Dust with the Barnevelder chickens in Kitsap County (ish). They are rare in the US so there are not many of us here in Western Washington who breed them but I have both blue double laced (which are not yet accepted in the APA but I do show them too) and the standard black/mahogany double laced. I just love them and will talk your ear off about them if you ever want to know more about them, lol...just ask Carolyn, she's been to the farm and gotten the grand tour. I will have hatching eggs and chicks available this year. I have raised lots of different breeds of chickens over the years but Barnevelders are the breed I have finally settled on and aside from a couple of silkie broodies they are the only breed I have. I could talk multiple paragraphs about them but just PM me and I'll send you my phone number if you want to ask over the phone. I have nothing but good things to say about them but I suppose I am a little biased...can't beat the color of the birds, the personality, the overall package...

Hope that helps!

DD

You may have seen @DiamondDust
there.  She has both the std. black/mahogany and the blue laced.  Her hen took Best of Breed at the WFF show a couple of weeks ago.  She's is really well versed and easy to talk to.

I will pm her to see if I can get some eggs from her this coming spring or even earlier

finally making a grand entrance into the world the little ducky ROSSY. Lol, poked his little head out around three thirtyish. The other one is taking its sweet time. Just kind of peaking out of one little hole.

Good to hear all of those good replies about them, had my doubts, some people said that they are really bad layers and so on, so now that I have some good info I will preside further. I am in the process of making our own incubator, so I am working on a good light brahma chicks.

Oh my goodness, I love it. Miss having baby duckling so much, but can't have them anymore, we have 6 grown ducks. What a cutie.

the other one finally made its appearance at nine thirty. That makes two from two eggs. Great hatch rate for my ducks with two bantam hens.this little fellow almost was not. The egg was cracked when another hen pushed her way in and laid an egg on the duck egg. She cracked it, it started to bleed. DW googled what to do. They said cover it with wax. We did n now we have a baby duck, well two ducky's.
