Have you ever thought about planting Golden Flax Seed around the area? It is an extremely useful seed for chickens. It's what makes their eggs "smarter" for lower cholesterol diets.
Of course, you have to try and keep the chickens out of it long enough for them to actually grow though...

I love flaxseed, I eat alot of it, as I have celiac disease.
But, I have tried planting all sorts of grains & millet here & the mousies have a feast !

Mousies avoid the smell of patchouli.
Started putting out these little patchouli smelling natural packets last winter
that I found at the local feed store & have not seen 1 mouse since!
Best mousie product out there ever!

Had to put him in a yogurt cup to get the booger to hold still...these are RACE ducklings !


Jumped right over the edge of this box...back in the cup you go !


1 finger on 1 foot..that made him mad ! look at the dirty looks !

So this is one of the crested, some are crested, some are not.

Can someone hurry up and make a crested quail? I would love to see some crested coturnix, I mean all the other birds have crests like ducks, polish, idk what else....
Now I'm trying to imagine a crested quail

When I first learned that people kept quail, in my minds-eye this is what I saw. Just because we have them around here and it's the only type I was aware of.

Would those little deely-boppers on their head count as a crest?

But they are harder to get, and raise than cots
But no top nots (the feather on their head) dose not count...
