I didn't think of that. If so, I could just use a bowl I already have for the coop. I will try it out on the next projected freezing night and see what happens! Thanks CL.

We got ours because we keep the water outside our coop. Whenever we've tried to have water inside, they manage to spill it. We adjusted the door to stay open and put rope lights out so they can come and go in the dark evenings. I still quite a few winterizing projects to complete.

I have no clue now!!!
Quote: This design is so AWESOME !!!! I guess I am going to have to post a pic of my "baby" quilt my Great Grandma made for me a few years ago when I was like 5. It was a bribe in trade for my bottle. (which is another funny).
Quote: I have all of my water's inside the coop or barn and they always freeze! BUT Maybe it's just that by the time you wobble yer old crippled self out to the coop the temp has warmed and they are all thawed !

ME too :( I still need to add some triangular wood pieces to the nest boxes to close the gap of where I raised the lid; I also want to add lighting to the chicken run by wrapping the roof joists with Christmas lights; need to re-staple some of the hardware cloth where my painter ripped it off the coop too. Lots of work, no help and no time. Ugh. I hope you get yours exactly how you want it very soon!

THAT would AWESOME! If she is, she would join Caunnie and Rhodie in coop #1 after Drama gets moved to the bigger coop with the BCMs. I have noticed some feathers that came in black are not black any more.

We've decided when the boys are old enough to go off of lights, we'll probably take Cocoa and Rocha to auction. They were both born with combs, and the combs get bigger and bigger each day. They're even getting bigger than Blackie now. I held them yesterday and they are a lot heavier than Blackie, now, too.

We're going to let Latte and Blackie grow out more before making a decision on them. We figure - if a neighbor comes over for any reason and sees them, they're going to instantly peg us for having boys - if they see Cocoa and Rocha. But, Blackie has such a feminine looking face (although we still think he is a boy because of his 3 row comb), and Latte doesn't have a comb at all yet, we figure we could pass them off as girls for a while.

You may have missed my post about the 3 row combs...the thread was moving awfully fast at that point and even I wasn't keeping up at all. The run-down of my Easter Eggers is as follows: Laya- teensy tiny single comb, Martha- 3 row pea comb (and she's definitely a girl!), Louise- single row pea comb (girl!), Thelma- 3 row pea comb (now laying eggs). As you can see, that makes NO difference in cross breeds; have hope my dear friend!

Thanks for reposting. I had not seen that post. We'll have to go over our limit in #s for a while - as we'll have many babies, but I think we'll be OK. When we know what we really have, we'll make our decisions and pare down to 6.

I still have to get some plexiglass to block the wind to the main run. *Almost* got some for free - missed it by minutes. Bummer. I don't want to put wood up and block their view of the back yard. Looking at garbage cans on one side, a boat tent on one side, and a fence on the other wouldn't be very fun.
